IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

Aroma: Toffee, orange peel, and a hint of caramel.
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber colour, with a lingering white head.
Taste: Caramel, orange, and a slight hoppy bite.
Palate: Quite sweet throughout, with a bitter aftertaste. Light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Quite unusual... in a good way. A nice, sweetish beer, with enough of a hop kick at the end to remind you itís an IPA.

Bottle from Yamaya, Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, Japan. A hazy orange/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Orange, caramel aroma. Tastes similar, orange, caramel, sweet yet bitter. Tasted slightly unbalanced at first but once into it quite liked this.

Itís a strange beer all round. It pours bright orange with thin lacing, lots of sediment (or does this actually have fruit in it?). The aroma is not much hops, lots of citrus and a strong grain smell, has that funk hops smell of Belgian beers. The taste is very smooth, light, low bitterness, lots of toffee malt flavours but not syrupy at all, very refreshing. They say itís an IPA but Iíd call it a session Belgian ale... with fruit.

Bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours orange with a weak head with a light body with moderate carbonation. I don't think this beer has travelled to well. In the nose it's slightly buttery and sweet with a bit of orange. Taste is quite earthy and grainy and nothing to special.

Oink. Man, this is crazy sweet and fruity. Orange, candied orange peel, more phrases with orange in it, cream soda, oversweet caramel. The taste is similar as itís super fruity and has a bit of hop bite that fades. Itís minerally. Oranges and orange related terms, turtle elbows, flat malt base. Neat flavor that needs other stuff tossed into it to make this interesting. The orange isnít quite the standard orange I find in most citrusy ipaís and that in itself is cool. Straight forward simplistic brew that does nothing for this top hat wearing fancy man.

Pours hazy pale Amber with almost no head. The aroma is dominated by orange zest, but there's iron too. Acidic taste, low bitter finish. Disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was looking forward to this, as the other Hitachino beers that Iíve had have been excellent; unforunately, this disappointed; I didnít make notes, but I recall it as much too thin, a bit bitter without much flavour and certainly not the anticipated citrus explosion.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Hazy orange. Halo of off white head. Some orange. Orange pith. Orange zest. Very orangey, then. Some sweet malts. Taste is zesty bitter. A bit metallic. Lots of carbonation turns it Jusodatastic. Finishes watery dry, and bitter.
