IPA brewed with Japanese wild breed mandarin "Fukure Mikan". Refreshing flavor of this mandarin complements well with citrusy hop. The perfect balance act of hop bitterness and Umami taste.

355ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
Strong smell of oranges, almost overpowering with some wheat and a little sweetness. I could detect some hops although not many & touches of bitterness plus various background fruits rounded things off.
Bright amber with a clear body & visible carbonation. The head was 0.25cm & turned patchy after a few seconds.
Dominated by a strong orange presence that also hints at some alcohol. Some yeast, a little wheat & some bitterness make an appearance alongside some subtle hops & a perfume like flavour that seemed quite floral.
Smooth with a medium body and light medium carbonation, this one is slightly sweet & some hints of alcohol also feature.

Fairly average beer & definitely wasn’t on of their better offerings, the beer just seemed to be dominated by the orange smell & flavour and despite being labelled as an IPA I would be more inclined to put it down as a fruit beer.

the "IPA" in this ale is not as apparent as in their japanese classic ale. The orange peel is clearly sweet orange and is quite strong. It dominates the flavor and aroma. behind that aroma is some earthy piney hop smell. beautiful color. with a lasting head (that i’m surprised the orange oil didnt kill off). tasty, but much less complex than other hitachino nest offerings.

Quite drinkable with lots of orange. Pours cloudy amber/orange with good head and lacing. Certainly more of an orange beer than an IPA. Light note of fermented orange funk. Finishes with light sweetness, not much bitterness. Some tangerine. Tap at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont.

Interesting beer from one of the breweries I really enjoy. The Fukure Mikan oranges are subtle but lend a nice sweet citrus notes. I was hoping for more from the Tardif de Bourgogne hops, but there is bitter, dry finish on the back of the tongue at the finish. A nice, fruity IPA.

Mug’s Ale House, Brooklyn tap ($8): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is orange, sugary malt, and a bit of hops. Taste is quite sweet with a sort of orange juice flavor. Kind of thick and malty. This was very much in the direction of an English IPA, but perhaps even sweeter. Not bad.

In short: a citrusy ale.
Pours quite clear amber, with nice off white head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Citrusy, caramel, malty aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste follows the nose, orange, caramel, light bitterness. Enjoyable.
