Dec 28, 2008 Updated: Oct 19, 2009 A Christmas stout for 2008. The stout poured a deep black with a brown head that overflowed my pint glass. The aroma of coffee beans hits you immediately. This is a big stout with flavors of chocolate, coffee and malts. Not being a coffee drinker this is over kill with espresso flavors. Enjoyed my second at a local restaurant. This one flavors of tobacco.

Dec 24, 2008 Blach with huge beige head. Loads of coffee in the aroma with wooddy and bitter notes. Sweet and bitter flavour with dark bitter chocolatde, woody and coffee notes. Not bad.

Dec 23, 2008 Black light brown edges, two thick fingers of puffy tan head. Green unroasted coffee aroma. Over roasted malts and typical Hitachino woody spiciness. Fresh pressed espresso taste over a light but roasty malt body.

Dec 16, 2008 [bottle - 330 ml] Dark black pour with a fizzy and lasting tan head. Aroma is dark and roasty with copious amounts of coffee, malt, and some cream. Flavor is sweet at the beginning with a good hint of chocolate that goes to a smooth and roasty middle of espresso, cream, cocoa, and some vanilla. Finishes smooth and bitter like espresso with a nice roasted taste that stays for a while.

Dec 16, 2008 Bottle. Deep black color with dark tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Tastes the same. The coffee flavor does not have that ash taste like some coffee stouts. Nice.

Dec 15, 2008 Pours a dark black that allows some light. One finger creamy chestnut brown head. Very nice looking. The nose is roasty, mild bakers chocolate, coffee, definitely notes of sweet and dark fruits, mild tartness. The flavor is roasty, coffee, bitter coffee and chocolate feel, mild fruity tartness. Very interesting stout, lots going on.

Dec 14, 2008 Deep maroon color with very thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, flavor of malt and light chocolate with unsubtle coffee overtones. No surprise I suppose. Well balanced overall.
