COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Amazing beer! I could have this for breakfast instead of my triple shot flat white! Lovely dark head and massive amounts of coffee flavour with a great bitterness.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark, reddy brown. Thin, tan head. Dark, malty, fruitiness. Liquorice. Light cocoa. Hint of coffee. Taste is fruity dry. Palate is more of that. Not as full bodied as I expected. Dry, light bitter finish, with more of the liquorice.

Pours black like oil, same viscosity, tan head. Espresso bean, chocolate and malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes sweet.

Bottle. Near black with a beige head. Aromas are rich, fruity coffee with dark chocolate. Earthy with background caramel and spicy alcohol. Flavours are roast coffee with gritty cocoa and hints of vanilla. Spritzy yeast with blackberries and vinous notes. Good dark chocolate bitterness. Very nice.

Bottle to stout glass. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some sweetness. This pours a dark brown with a nice beige head. Taste is mostly coffee with some roastiness behind it. A bit of a sweet chocolate there as well. Overall a really dope beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle provided by teddybeer. Thx a lot. This has been on my want list for years. It pours opaque black with a creamy beige head. The aroma sweet roasted coffee notes with caramel and chocolate. The flavor is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light tar. Smooth body. Great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

There are many better coffee stout beers available, This really is top heavy on the coffee notes, really over the top. Nice carbonation, nice mouthfeel. But it is unbalanced and bit sour.

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 4/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light char, caramel, light molasses, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee notes; with great strength. Taste of roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, light char, caramel, light molasses, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, roast, toast, dark bread, caramel, light molasses, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; with a great roasted sweetness/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy, smooth, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent coffee stout. All around great balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Dark opaque with heavy coffee smell and taste. Enjoyable but a slight gap in taste between the coffee and beer flavours. Bottle slightly over date.
