4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a 33cl bottle, pours a deep black with a thick beige head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavors of dark chocolates, coffee, malts, grass, hops, and sugar. Creamy in mouth, light carbonation, light bitterness and light sweetness, strong coffee and chocolate flavors, well balance, quite rich taste, very enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is lightly roasted with a hint of malt, and the flavour is gently bitter with quite a high degree of roasted and burnt ness. Overall a nice stout but not strong enough for espresso.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2013 bottled I like coffee , I like beer more- if you unite the two drinks together -like with chocolate beers , I prefer this aspect to not have domination over the whole damn beer !!!. Drink a ’Young’s Chocolate’ and tell me you get much texture other than generic chocolate , I don’t think so personally . This Espresso beer is really bitter and tastes of nothing much other than coffee...faint stout vibes of roast malt and caramel are there ...
An ok gimick ,but not my thing.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout has a thick, creamy, beige head, a very dark brown appearance, and pretty good lacing left behind. The aroma is of heavily roasted barley malt, dark coffee, faint chocolate, and black cherries. Taste is of acidic, sour, dark-roasted malt, black coffee, cherries, and some chocolate. Mouthfeel is mostly heavy and syrupy, and Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout finishes rich, sweet, charred, and dry. Overall, this is an interesting and well-made flavored beer. I score it most excellent. 4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle poured into snifter. Color is black with a thin, foam khaki ring, no head, and sticky web lacing scattered on the glass. Aroma is large roast, coffee, malt. Flavor follows nose with big roast, malt, cocoa, coffee, and a loooong satisfying char finish layered with chocolate. This is a great stout - surprisingly so. Must buy more of these.
