Commercial Description:
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

4 oz. taster at Seattle IBF. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is purely fruits, roast, and alot of graininess. Flavor is hoppier than expected, roasty coffee, pretty dry. Mouthfeel is a little too thin, medium bodied with lots of carbonation.

Pours black with foamy tan head. Amazing aroma of roasted coffee, vanilla and chocolate. Very smooth drinking, strong espresso flavor. Can’t find another bottle of this soon enough!

Bottle 330ml.
Clear dark black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, heavy burnt, moderate chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long duration. Instant coffee bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090320]

Really? The aroma smelled of cheap coffee. Appearance was black with mocha head. Flavor has cheap coffee flavor and a hint of chocolate. Palate was bubbly. Not impressed. Overrated in my book.

Strong flavor, strong aftertaste. This is a heavy beer. One to sip and savory. Very good but a little overpowering for me.

Black oily body and massive lasting light brown head. Smell of coffee, caramel, and roasted grains. Tastes like dark chocolate, sweet malts with a heavy coffee roast. Glorius! Chocolate and coffee rule supreme. A very thick rich palate, medium finish.
