CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 1, 2009 The beer pours a jet black with a deep reddish brown head and some decent retention. The aroma is complex with deep coffee and sweet roasty malt with a little cherry like sourness. The espresso dominates the flavor of this stout. The roasty flavors are abound and the beer is very bitter and mildly smoky with a nice little burnt toast thing going on. Are we sure this isn’t an imperial stout, this certainly rides the line if anything. foundmd (163), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 30, 2009 330ml bottle. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Apr 28, 2009 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Pitch black colour with frothy, brown head. Roasted, malty nose with distinct notes of freshly ground, heavily roasted coffee and dark bitter chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with strong black coffee, cocoa powder, hints of dark fruit and prunes, and a dry finish with a generous coffee bitterness. Medium body with smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Dry. Maybe a bit one dimensional, but a lovely beer with and impressive coffee character.
