Commercial Description:
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

11.2oz bottle. Pour is black with tan head. Nose is sharpie. Taste is dark chocolate, burnt malt, charcoal, cigar, espresso and maybe black licorice. Mouthfeel is medium, medium full. A big brew but pretty approachable.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr/Ungstrup. Pours black and opaque with a light brown head. Distinctly burned coffee aroma. Medium body with very burned malt accents and coffee. Burned, malt bitter finish. 200309

From the first pour, this one was obviously a good stout, produced a good amount of head after the pour. Had a nice aroma, and a relatively strong coffee taste, but not overpowering. Still found hints of chocolate and toffee.

Bottle. Poured Black with a short brown head. Nose is full of burnt malt and espresso. Flavor is major espresso some roasted/burnt malts, anise, a little smoke, and a very mild sourness. Nice warming alcohol. Finishes dry with coffee and a touch of wood.

Orlando, Fl.- Knightly Spirits - 330 ml bottle. Pours a nice tar black with a thin, but sticky mocha colored head. Very fragrant aroma with tons of fresh dark espresso and a bit of bittersweet chocolate. Bold flavor with some chocolate syrup, unsweetened espessso, some earthiness and a back end of roastiness and a hint of pepper. Mouthfeel is thick and rich,. Probably the best I have had from these folks.

Pours black with a medium mocha head which fades quickly. Aroma is stale coffee, with some earthy astringency. Taste is much better.....a decent amount of mocha, cocoa, and some vanilla. Deec.

Thanks to my bro for sharing this. Pours a deep dark brown color with thin tan head. Aroma is of stale coffee, you know, the last bit of sludge in your coffee that is ice cold. Ugh, the aroma made me think this would be an epic fail. Anyway, but the taste, man the taste is great. Large amounts of french roasted coffee and chocolate and toaste grain. Finish is creamy and clean just what I was hoping for. Good stuff.
