COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Bottle consumed Oct 2012, brought back from trip to Japan in April 2011. Accidental aging (in back of beer cupboard) seemed to have brought out vinous notes in it, almost a hint of barrel-aging character. The coffee was muted on the nose, but it was still there subtly in its full-bodied rich roasty flavour – not as much perhaps as a younger version of the beer, but I savoured the increased structure that had come through with time, and the subtle blending of roast malt, coffee, sweetness, wine and oakey tones.

33 cl teku glass. Straight from Japan to Milan in my luggage. Pours a large espresso/very tanned creamy and dense head; pitch black colour. Smells dark chocolate, with wonderful espresso notes, vanilla, rich malts. Tastes italian moka coffee, cocoa, licorice, roasted malts, bit wood; mild sweetness and bitterness too, super smooth and so greatly balanced, nice umami too. Correct and quite soft carbonation, medium bodied, silky and slightly sticky body, bit astringency too. Such a remarkably, great clean cocoa and roasty finish, clean especially for being a stout. Balance, smoothness.. and refinement say it all, awesome and solid brew

This is a good looking stout. The body is jet black with a mocha head that looks for all money as if it is actually a thickshake. The aroma is of an espresso dessert with dark chocolate and maybe even a whiff of peat smoke. Some vanilla comes through the fug of coffee and woodsmoke. Glorious. It is thick and lush, more like mousse than beer with a creamy, sweet finish. I get the fruit toward the end - black cherry jam. This is love, it really is.

Appearance is very dark, ruby hints, with a foamy light brown head which leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma- loads of coffee, hint of vanilla, dark chocolate, espresso, tiramisu, fudge cake. Taste- big roastiness, masses of coffee- rich espresso, with an underlying toffee/caramel sweetness. Burnt toast, rich malts, dark chocolate cake, excellent- tastes bigger than 7%.

Je découvrais les droits marquées en café avec cette bière japonaise. Même si je reconnais la profondeur de texture, la richesse de gout, je n’ai pas non plus été co quais. Mais il y a un vrai travail , d’où une note correcte.

Bottled in Haggis Pub Moscow. Deep black colour, intensive aroma of green coffee. Taste is verry dry same coffee as it is in aroma, bitterness is strong enough. Later you can feel pleasant smoothness and light cream notes. Good balance even im not a big fan of coffee RIS style.

This is a very easy going stout. Clean espresso, and big smacks of hop. It leaves you wanting more, but more of what? I'm not sure. I could easily transfer to espresso martinis at this point, or head back to a dry lip-smacking porter. Its a fantastic beer and definitely worth seeking out. Well done.
