4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle consumed Oct 2012, brought back from trip to Japan in April 2011.
Accidental aging (in back of beer cupboard) seemed to have brought out vinous notes in it, almost a hint of barrel-aging character. The coffee was muted on the nose, but it was still there subtly in its full-bodied rich roasty flavour – not as much perhaps as a younger version of the beer, but I savoured the increased structure that had come through with time, and the subtle blending of roast malt, coffee, sweetness, wine and oakey tones.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pitch black oily color with a brown foam ring. The smell is best described by the name of the beer. The taste is smooth, sweet, light oily, thick and intense on coffee flavors and has the stout typical particle mouth feeling. The aftertaste is smooth, thick and coffee and chocolate like. Great beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours out looking like soda with an opaque dark maroon body and a thin tan head. Aromas are fruits and dark chocolate, flavors fairly similar. Actually drinking it adds plenty of roasted flavor. Perfect light and frothy mouthfeel. Very impressive stuff!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours fairly dark, not completely black though. Aroma of dark malts, ash and coffee.
Taste is coffee and a barrage of the drier dark malt taste. Expected it to be a bit more creamy than it was.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours almost pitch black with nice head. Aroma: beautiful aroma of fresh coffee beans and roasted malt. Taste: very well balanced bitterness and pleasant dark roasted malt body. Absolutely no coffee sourness. Fantastic stout also for the summer, when you do not necessarily need a 10% ABV Russian Imperial Stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33 cl. bottle at Kung Fu II Izakaya Bar, Copenhagen. Near black colour with a creamy, tanned head. Roasted aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, red berries, herbal hops bitterness. Espresso beans is clearly present. Taste is bitter. Full body with a creamy, velvet like texture. Soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter-roasted. Excellent Stout, good pairing with the rich, fried meat.
