Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

The aroma is a sweet roasted malt and coffee. Strangely the sweetness isn’t in the taste. Instead you get a dark roasty malt with a big coffee flavor. Long finish with a little chocolate. Very easy drinking. This is a great beer.

Bottle. Black with creamy head, looks like coffee :). In aroma great espresso coffee with some chocolate malts in the background. In taste coffee notes with nice roastiness, no sourness. Medium body, dry finish, low bitterness. Great beer.

Deep black opaque with a beautiful mocha head but so so retention. Aroma is strong espresso with some cocoa notes. Flavor is dry espresso with some very dark chocolate malts and a slight alcoholic sweetness. Medium palate, enjoyable

Pours fairly dark, not completely black though. Aroma of dark malts, ash and coffee. Taste is coffee and a barrage of the drier dark malt taste. Expected it to be a bit more creamy than it was. Bottle from Bier-deluxe.

Deep black color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, tabaco and hints of caramel. Flavor is roasted malt and chocolate, hints of coffee and smoked. Low carbonation in a full body with a dry coffee finish.

Pours almost pitch black with nice head. Aroma: beautiful aroma of fresh coffee beans and roasted malt. Taste: very well balanced bitterness and pleasant dark roasted malt body. Absolutely no coffee sourness. Fantastic stout also for the summer, when you do not necessarily need a 10% ABV Russian Imperial Stout.

33 cl. bottle at Kung Fu II Izakaya Bar, Copenhagen. Near black colour with a creamy, tanned head. Roasted aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, red berries, herbal hops bitterness. Espresso beans is clearly present. Taste is bitter. Full body with a creamy, velvet like texture. Soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter-roasted. Excellent Stout, good pairing with the rich, fried meat.

Pours a rich dark black color with a nice ephemeral java head. Nose is rich malt, roasted dark espresso with some chocolate notes. Taste is sweet chocolate with a rich mocha Java flavor as well. Very smooth, velvety and drinkable. Finishes on the same tasting notes, finish is dry, sweet and abrupt. Nice ! Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours a nice dark brown color. Not as dark as some espresso stouts, but dark enough to look delicious. The head is a nice color as well. As one might expect, that aroma has a good coffee component, along with chocolate and buttery caramel. The beer is rich in the mouth with lots of coffee flavor mixed with dark chocolate. The carbonation is a bit much for this beer, but I think that will get better if the beer sits in the glass for a while. The aftertaste is not as rich as a would like, but this is a very solid beer. An odd one to find in Montana, but one of the better stouts I have had in Montana to be honest.
