black, fine brown head,
strong smokey coffee and dark chocolate aroma,
rich roasted flavor, strong dark chocolate character, lots of espresso bitterness blended with a dark malt tartness,
just too much of the black coffee bitterness

argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Oct 8, 2007 (33cl bottle) Black body topped by a small-but-persistent brown head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee/roast, some cream, light burnt. Taste is medium sweet, strong coffee, roast, some burnt, light chocolate, raisin. Creamy medium-full body, light effervescence, acidity. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 26, 2007 Pours an opaque black with a nicely-lacing wispy froth of light brown head. Aroma of fresh roasty coffee and dark chocolate with some sweet toffee notes. Body starts with a dark caramel malty sweetness and good viscosity along with fresh roasted and lightly bitter espresso toward a smooth, lingering dark chocolate finish. Nicely balanced and a very tasty coffee stout. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Dec 31, 2007 Bottle: Dark black color, thin tan head, small lacing, very light carbonation. The nose is a combination of light espresso and a dark coffee, some sweet robust roast and sharp fruity acidic chocolate malt. Some tobacco and burnt notes, but they’re vague and ignorable. The flavor is a bit dry, some noticeable astringency and sharp coffee grounds. Very light alcohol though and a creamy full sweet body. Interesting acidity to blend it together. hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2007 330ml bottle shared courtesy of egajdzis. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of coffee grounds, espresso, vanilla, roast, and chocolate. Tastes of coffee, earthy, roast, chocoalte, and vanilla. I want coffee in any beer that has espresso in its name and this one didn’t disappoint me (especially in the aroma).
