Commercial Description:
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Pitch black, thick, with a fantastically tall and creamy tan head. Strong aroma of coffee, with hints of chocolate, roasted barley, burnt wood, caramel. A slightly sour note as well, almost a touch of dark fruit. Thick, rich body and flavor. Huge coffee but not overwhelming. Great roasted malt and barley. Chocolate, creamy lactic milk taste, brown sugar. A touch of refreshing sourness, and a touch of vanilla. Maybe a touch of aroma hops as well? Perfectly balanced. Great bitterness, decent sweetness. Long-lasting bitter finish of burnt barley, coffee. An excellent beer, not too much on the coffee, well done.

Coffee grounds on the nose, hints of vanilla that fade into chocolate, roasty. Pours very dark brown pretty much black, with a dense brown head. This looks great. Coffee all the way, roasted coffee beans, slightly burnt flavor, hints of smoke, creamy vanilla, slightly oily on the palate, which i like in a stout. There’s a slight sourness, like in a cup of coffee you let get cold. This is a great beer.

11.2 oz bottle purchased at Ocean Wine & Spirits enjoyed on Christmas morning. Is this beer a breakfast stout clone, aromawise anyways. Aroma starts off with a blast of black olives but luckily that quickly fades and you are left with espresso, licorice and bitter dark chcocolate. Pours a very nice thick solid bodied beauty with an average size medium brown head. Body is nice and full but the cabonation is a bit too lively and could be a tad smoother. Flavor starts off as burnt coffee but finishes with some nice chocolatey sweetness. Really good stuff but what type of sushi am I supposed to eat with this.

Pours thick and black with a smallish tan head. Aroma is delightful and potent. It is full of black cherry, coffee beans, and vanilla. Flavor is more roasted coffee note with chocolate and dark fruit. Aftertaste is surprisingly tart with a long lasting bitterness. Zesty and well carbonated feel, even mildly volcanic on the tongue. This beer is thick and substantial in body and is very good! Enough coffee one could enjoy it with breakfast.

Bottle. Pours a thick dark black color with a foamy tan head. Head gushed from the bottle upon opening and was very creamy. Nose is coffee and chocolate up front and a heavy lactose and cream note. Palate is thick and creamy with a light fizz and bitterness in the finish. Flavor is heavy on the coffee and roasted malt with a nice milk chocolate flavor.

11.2 oz bottle. Ebony; a stiff pour produces a bubbly crema head that settles with chunky lacing. Nose is salty black licorice and musty coffee beans. Silky sipping with soft peel carb that lightly tickles the tongue. Taste is surprisingly fruity; earthy plums and orange pith. Hints of vanilla with coffee drying. Long, saturated finish with mild sour. A most interesting brew.

Pours thick and black with a huge off tan head. Creamy dry fresh ground coffee aroma. Thick roasted malt and coffee taste. Very smooth and tasty.
