Commercial Description:
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Almost black , caramel head...fluffy, looks like cappuccino...smells like coffee beans after a chocolate bath and a car bomb, ..in Vineland!....amped up coffee ice cream initially, then the beans, my mouth is saturated with them, and it is fulfilled to the maximum fulfillment....palate is even tempered, medium to full, creamy and supple...I love coffee, so I am jaded to non-coffee fans...I love it!!...Yum....Delish....Succulent!

Holy moly, it lives up to it’s name. Pours black w/ a full, bronze colored creamy froth. Superb head retention. Froth reduces to a thick, sticky, creamy lace. The aroma alone is worth buying this brew. Heavy, heavy, heavy espreso. It’s so heavily roasted it smells like chipotle peppers hot off the grill. I really have to say WOW! at this point. LOL. Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. Awsome! I’m amazd at this flavor profile. This brew excedes my expectations. It’s not sweet at all. HUGE roasted espresso flavors dominate like the tripods in War of the Worlds. Big balancing malts provide the life sustaining backbone to push this brew into overdrive and through the stratosphere. The finish is long and lasts forever w/ perfect bittering. Overall: no words can describe the emotional experience this brew evokes. This is on my list as one the few brews that have left such an impression on my psychi. Good job amigos! Hghy recommended.

Pours a dark black with a dark brown head. This beer has one of the most beautiful aromas I’ve ever experienced. Very strong coffee bean/espresso presence as well as a burnt dark chocolate scent. The coffee/espresso theme again is dominant in the taste but a nice dark chocolate taste balances it out perfectly not making it too bitter. A nice combination of caffeine kick and alcohol strength. The best infusion of coffee and alcohol that I have tasted and Hitachino’s best beer.

33 cl. Opaque black with a 4 finger head that lasts. Aroma is coffee with cream, charred wood, dry oats, and cocoa. Flavors of espresso with sugar and cream, cocoa, smoky hickory, and green herbs. Medium-heavy body is smoooooth and has a just-right dry finish. Best... stout... ever.

12oz bottle. Thick pure black color with rusty colored head. Rich with fantastic roasted malt and chocolate qualities, while remaining classy, subtle, and drinkable. The alcohol and general flavor is just barely reminiscent of an imperial stout, and the coffee adds even more depth. Great coffee stout, among the best I’ve had.

I have a very bright LED light and I shined it on the other side of the glass. . . couldn’t even see a hint of light. No joke. Caramel, chocolate, hint of mint and strong coffee flavor (I don’t like coffee yet I like this beer). One of if not the best Coffee beers that I have ever had. More than full bodied, perfect dark, and delicious. Buy me.

What a pleasant surprise.Great nose of caramel and coffee. More carbonated than most Russian Imperial Stouts but this led to a balancing lightness and a great mouthfeel. Sort of like Peche Mortel lite. Love it.

THOUGHTS: Almost mocha like. Incredible beer. I will buy this again if I can find it. Not super complex, but the flavors and aromas are perfect. Almost like a coffee drink instead of a beer. The best Asian beer I think I’ve had so far and one of the best stouts overall. I recommend it highly. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was nearly black in the glass with slight red highlights and a small tan head that mostly diminished, but left good lacing. The aroma was heavy coffee and slightly less dark chocolate. The initial flavor was sweet and slightly sour; while the finish was sweet, a little sour and fairly bitter with a fairly duration, but consisting almost only of coffee bean. There was coffee, chocolate, fresh ground coffee, coffee beans, hints of vanilla, slight dark fruit, but mostly coffee bean, and roasted malt. There was also some bitter and sort of sour coffee. The overall flavor was more coffee bean than the actual coffee. The medium to full body was a little oily, yet creamy with very fizzy and tingly carbonation and a slightly chalky and lightly alcoholic finish.
