Wanted to do something big for the milestone, but instead of raiding my Trappist reserves, I decided to go with a beer that had few ratings, and belonged to a style that I enjoyed. Pours a pitch black hue with a very small tan head. Giant aroma, highlighted by roasted coffee beans and a sweet malt that reminded me a bit of the Lacto Stout. Bittersweet chocolate and dark, roasted coffee dominate the palate as the beer is consumed. Not too thick, easily enjoyable. A great beer, but just lacks enough complexity to give Founders Breakfast/Ky. Breakfast Stout’s a run. Avoid, so I can buy more! Suttree (2754), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Black, with a brown head. Rich. almost decadent aroma of espresso and a hint of dark cocoa. Very rich palate. Flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma, but with a bit more chocolate. This was a nice surprise. radiomgb (2076), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2008 Black in colour, rich tan coloured head, good size and retention, light lacing. The aroma is incredibly roasty, LOTS of coffee and espresso, sweet, some chocolate and cream. The flavour is roasty, again lots of coffee, cream, sugary sweetness, chocolate, a bit burnt. Very roasty mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, very roasty with lots of espresso bitterness.
This was just like a fine cup of coffee, excellent from start to finish. I loved the roast in this.
330ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

There simply is no other beer that is more full on hardcore coffee. Mix in some brownies and vanilla (though barley noticable) and you have this beer. Caffeine freaks rejoice.
Note label says Happy Valentine, but this beer may be made outside of valentine.

This event was apparently the world premiere for this beer. Pours deep brown with a very still body and no head. Aroma of freshly roasted and ground coffee - very nice. Flavour has lots & lots of coffee, backed by cocoa, malt and a hint of Tootsie Rolls(!), with a long, lingering finish. Body is a little light, but otherwise, this is DAMN good! badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Wow... outrageous espresso and dry/bitter chocolate flavor. Moderately bitter roasted malt. Friggin good! JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 20, 2007 I like strong coffee and I like this beer! Very comparable to Founders Breakfast stout, possibly a little stronger on the coffee and possibly a little more on the coffee acidic bite . Not much in either case. Coffee with a little sugar please, good beer. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
