COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Bottle. Black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is lightly roasted with a hint of malt, and the flavour is gently bitter with quite a high degree of roasted and burnt ness. Overall a nice stout but not strong enough for espresso. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark and clear with a light fine head. Aggressive aroma of burnt, roasted coffee. Some pepper. Flavor is predominantly coffee with roasted barley notes. Very smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

Dark-chocolate brown, rich light-brown fine head, fades moderately quickly to textured film and ring. Aroma is a burnt two-day-old coffee, with hint of chocolate and raw sugar cane, touch of soy sauce, some toffee. Creamy mouthfeel, very fine carbonation, velvet. Flavor is a chocolate-mocha punch, bit of green tea, slightly hot on the exhale, balanced and nicely infuse flavors. Highlight is the creamy body and mochachino.

Not a bad stout at all. Better in bottle, somewhat bitter if poured hard to make head. Head not worth the pour. That said, not too impressed off the bat but while eating food it went down smooth and easy, was swigging it as if it were a bud light, though I enjoyed my ice water more.

Incredible amount of strong dark coffee with sweet cocoa powder, and light grassy hops. Regular mouth feel, and carb. The finish is super roasty, with another incredible amount of cold coffee with a hint of cocoa sweetness. A superb stout.

330 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a creamy tan head. Aroma: Rich, roasted, sweet malts, milk chocolate and vanilla, coconut(?), with an odd fruity/savoury note Palate: Fairly full, silky body and full, rounded, velvety carbonation, really nice mouthfeel. Flav.: Milk chocolate, cacao, some coffee notes, coconut, rich and friendly, still has an off, savoury tropical fruit thing going on, roasted malts and a bit of grape jelly; sweet with fair bitterness and a long, smooth, coffee and milk chocolate finish.

Quite a good sipper.
