Nose is full of intense coffee and sweet dark chocolate. A mix between a mocha and a rich chocolate cake. Plenty of roasted malt later on.
Roasted coffee really hits as a flavour but underneath there’s still a lot of dark chocolate and sweet roasted malt. Some soft alcohol.
Creamy high carbonation, very rich, smooth body.

Number 500, share with the wife. When I started this thing I didn’t think I’d be drinking Japanese Espresso Stout, so how great is this? I’ve made friends and had much fun. My wife left a card and cash in Cotteridge Wines for me for Fathers Day. Brilliant.

Bottle at Gaasa, june 11th 2013. Black body, big tanned head. Roasty aroma, espresso, chocolate, light vanilla. Lots of coffee in the taste, also dark chocolate, fruits, cream and cardamom. Thick body, dry bitterness, good roasty coffee aftertaste. An excellent beer, and surely the best I’ve tasted from Japan ever. Lovely.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Black-colored, not completely opaque, with a light brown head. Nice strong coffee aroma. Bittersweet flavor, a bit acidic, with lots of coffee and a dry roasty finish. Medium-bodied. Very nice.

Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. The coffee flavor isn’t as integrated into the rest of the beer as I would like it to be. It also has a lighter mouthfeel than other coffee stouts I’ve had. It just feels a bit weak all around flavor wise. It is smooth and easy to drink I’ll give it that but far from a great coffee stout.

Really fuckin good. A little unexpected fizz on my tongue which just helped it linger. Delicious roasted yum.

Mellow, fruity, low acid coffee on the nose. A little more roast wouldn’t hurt. The star is the texture, smooth and rich. There is just too much raisin in this for me. Makes it a little cakey.

330ml bottle. Black pour, small milk chocolate head. Taste and aroma are discernibly espresso as opposed to merely coffee, lending an intense espresso bitterness. Really good if you like that sort of thing.

On draft at Mead Hall. Pours black with a tan head. Lots of sweet malty flavors, most notably chocolate. Espresso notes were there but much less subtle than expected. Not bad.

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with lots of bubbly tan head that sticks nicely. Aroma of soy, roasted malts, and slight dark chocolate. Taste is not on the coffee, not a whole lot else. A little thin on the mouth, but otherwise not too bad, definitely the best Japanese beer I’ve had.

Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is heavy espresso, grass, chili, licorice, caramel, cocoa. Taste is a little flat and watery, strong coffee, caramel, grass, chili, licorice, cocoa. Medium bitterness. Nice one, but the taste doesn’t really live up to the aroma.
