Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors. The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil. Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate. The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base. Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

minimal tan head, dark brown to black body. a very tempting aroma for a coffee appreciator such as myself. And the bitter is unrivaled among stouts. I’ve not had a stout this well balanced, and with such a pleasant hoppiness in a while. I had the opportunity to visit this brewery this summer, and I was delighted to find their winter seasonal available at my local beer store when after I returned to the US. Yippee!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 09/2016, from Alko Arkadia, 20151009) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized, lightly brown and it lasted long. Aroma had burnt malts, coffee and creaminess. Palate was medium bodied and fizzy. Flavours were burnt malts, coffee, sweetness, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee, burnt malts and bitterness. A good coffee infused stout.

Bottle, 7% ABV. Deep brown-black with a nice tan head. Pleasant aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa. Medium-sweet with rich flavors of chocolate, prunes, coffee, vanilla, berries, perfect balance. Rather full bodied, silky smooth texture. Great stout.

Bottle sample, thanks zvsn. 7% abv. Deep brown with small brownish head. The aroma has lots of coffee, dark chocolate and minerals, a bit creamy. Sweetish flavor with lots of coffee, some minerals, some roastiness, light bitterness, hint of vanilla and some fruitiness, light sourness in the finish. Soft carbonation, medium to full-bodied. Very good stout.

Pours black, small, dark head fades fast. Smell is espresso, indeed. Ok intensity. Taste is espresso, but in a very balanced, not overpowering manner. I like it a lot, even though I disslike coffee very much. It has that... Bad taste. Some offeebeers have it, some don’t. This one hasn’t , but has got all the good essence of coffee a stout can have. In the background are dark malts, and a bitterness. The aftertaste reminds of chocolat and coffee. All together, this is a very nice balanced beer, with very full flavor and yet -by compare - low abv. Lovely !

Hell of a good coffee stout, this one. Toasty, roasty, with lots and lots of coffee packed in there, and more of the bitterness coming from the coffee than any hops. Tastes a little burnt, but oh well. A nice coffee stout!

Bottle from Alko. Pours very dark brown with medium light brown head. Nose has very burnt malt, dark chocolate, coffee and black licorice aromas. Bitter dark chocolate with hints of coffee and roast malt. Light body with a creamy milk-like texture and soft carbonation.

Pours dark brown with average creamy light brown head. Good lacing. Aroma is malty, cookie, espresso, nuts, roasted malts, spruce, red berries, earth. Notes of vanilla and licorice. Flavor is medium malty, light bitter, short aftertaste. Body is medium, palate is oily, carbonation is soft. Thin experience, alas.

Aronma is really nice tos aroma with lots of espresso beans. Taste is balan ed sweetness and bitterness. Light dry finish. Palate is light for a stout. Taste should be stronger.
