3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle.
Poured a hazy orange with a dense white head. Quite a sweet aroma of caramel, tropical fruit and bready malt. Flavours of ripe mango and melon, toffee and some grassy hops. Cereal and butterscotch on the palate with some residual hop bitterness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a very high, fine-grained tan head. Might be chill haze. Nose is floral, fruity, and yeasty -- apricot, rye bread, caraway, and fennel. Sweet for an IPA; brown sugar up front moving into some hops bitterness then back into malty sweetness. It’s definitely done in the English style, and I can really taste the cedar and the sake-like notes. The finish is long and shifts into a peppery dryness. Quite good, and surprisingly classic in flavor.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
330 ml bottle bought at Craftissimo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Colour: Cloudy hazy dark amber with lots of dirt-like yeast sediments.
Looks: One finger head and off-white foam which lasts about 2 minutes. Excellent sticky lacing with active carbonation.
Aroma: Nice sweet ale malt, with strong fresh pineapple, light grapefruit, honey, floral, pine cone, cedar, orange, and light citrus.
Taste: Nice mid to light sweet ale malt, with strong pineapple, grapefruit, yeast, earth, orange, light honey, pretty strong liquorices, strong lime and herbal hops.
Body: Full and oozy with thick and rich palate.
Mouth Feel: All you can ask for the best of IPA is here - rich ale taste, oozy body, loads of fresh fruity hops in earthy spicy backdrop. I am genuinely surprised!
Hoppiness: Very potent in fresh pineapple aroma and taste, with grapefruit took a backseat here. The Chinook and Fuggles work damn well - very piney smell, earthy taste, and oozy body. This is comparable to the likes of hoppy De Molens and Sierra Nevadas. Great! Bitterness is increasingly potent with each sips. Sharp, expressive and lasting - all very pleasant. Yummy!
Booze: The 7.0% abv hides itself very well as if nothing had happened. I am speechless!
After taste: Fairly dry, very hoppy and easy to mouth.
Comments: Looking at the title, I was expecting some odd Traditional Ale and bang, What a shock! It tastes very ounce like a modern IPA hop bomb. It shows up big, and it delivers - strong, explosive fruity and piney hop aroma, rich oozy body, backed with hard hitting fruity and earthy taste and seductive bitterness. Oh, did I mention the nice cedar smell? This one stands tall with those classy micro IPAs. Miss it at your own peril!
