3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 24 into a Sam Adams glass. Dark yellow with lots of particulate floating around. Huge head that slowly fades to a heavy film. When I first poured it I got a huge whiff of hops but strangely it’s not there on the first taste. Virtually no hop taste. Malty with bitterness a little pepper but the hops is subdued. After it warms a little I get some cedar and rosemary scent. Also a little more cedar in the taste. Unusual beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a hazy amber with little head. Caramel malt and wood on the nose. Flavours bring caramel malts, alcohol, bitterness, wood, and herbal hops which lead into a dry, short finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A mid amber orange coloured beer with a frothy off white head. A rich malt and wood aroma, caramel and spice, plus toffee apple and hazelnut. Dry and fizzy mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a dry malt and wood combination, caramel hazelnut and spice again, but a little more earthy. A dried raisiny fruit flavour appears next, giving a little more sweetness, but this is soon overtaken but a tart and refreshing appley type taste. The finish is tart and appley with a lingering background of malt and wood.

Old rating. Remember it being more sweet and woody then having much hop characteristics. Drinkable enough though.

Draft at the Birch. Clear copper color with a white ring. Very light aroma of not much honestly. Flavor is lightly sweet and caramely with a hint of hops. Meh.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
4/18/15 from 12 oz bottle. Hazy amber color with hardly any head. Slight sweet fruity aroma without hops smell. Tastes a bit like a hefe without the bubblegum banana flavors. Very drinkable but not all that special.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
New 330ml bottle from swanbourne cellars. Pours amber/orange with thick white head which recedes with good lacing. Aroma is amazing apples, wood chips and caramel. Flavours are that of a rich english style pale-caramel, stonefruit, drying oak and a firm lingering bitterness. Great mouthfeel with solid carbonation. Love these little owls but this could be the best of the nest so far.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ambery red clear color with some foam. Caramel and extremely round malty promises in the taste. The taste is insanely creamy and slightly oily and caramely sweet. However there is a bitterness that compensates the excess sweetness without showing its bitterness. Charming beer that is basically very well balanced but it has some lovely edges as well.
