3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 michael-pollack (4884) - King of Prussia, USA - APR 22, 2009
330ml Bottle (at 7.5%ABV): Aroma of cedar, wood, hops, and slight pepper. It smells like I am standing in a cedar closet. Poured amber in color with a small off-white head that lasted as a small film on top of the beer. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of tiny, small, and huge particles throughout. Flavor is slightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of cedar, hops, slight caramel malts, and wood. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Cedar finish is lightly dry. Like licking cedar chips, but good nonetheless.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (190) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Pours a cloudy amber with a light tan head. Aroma is floral and fruity, with all being on the subtle side. Contains orange, pear, cherry, and apple. Different from most IPAs. The taste contains all of these flavors, with cherry and apple standing out. These are also all very subtle, along with that woody distinctive undertone that is common in japanese beers. Instead of a fruity impression, I get an earthy take to this one. Not hoppy at all, which surprises me a bit that it actually is an IPA. Medium body, not really bitter, not really crisp. Nothing distinctive, everything subtle as described. Very "Japanese" if I may say so. I like more and more after each sip.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ACD (94) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAY 12, 2012
33cl bottle. Pours a hazy deep orange with a thin white frothy head, reasonable lacing. Earthy, woody, herby nose. Quite smooth caramel maltiness, interesting woodiness from the cedar cask ageing, earthy hop notes - very British hop profile. Slight yeast complexity, although the earthy notes dominate. Dry and bitter in the finish, well balanced and carries its 7% well. A very interesting brew from a pretty diverse brewery.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (2197) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 9, 2012
330ml bottle pours a pale golden orange color with a modest white head that retains well and leaves some thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas are very earthy with some pale malts and light fruit and cedar. Taste is earthy hop bitterness balanced with a light fruity and malty sweetness and hints of wood. Medium bodied with some lively carbonation. A very interesting and uniquely flavored brew that is quite enjoyable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 JStax (837) - Devola, Ohio, USA - APR 29, 2012
Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint. Appearance is hazy yellow with a white head of foam and good retention. Aroma is overly perfumy with just a hint at some bittering hops. Mayhaps that is the cedar coming through, but something tells me its not. Taste is overly sweet for my liking. I can’t say I am overly impressed with this one.

On Tap@Brewdog Edinburgh Hazy copper looks with a middling lingering off white head. Sweetish nose with notes of fruits and wood. Lightish, fruity flavour with notes of caramel, booze and a slight earthy quality. Balance a little off ,but decent enough hop bitterness. A bit left field, but perfectly drinkable and not without some charm.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cybercat (1913) - Georgia, USA - APR 23, 2012
Aroma is typically malty with a firm hoppy and woody undertone and a touch of fruit. It pours a clear golden amber with a fairly thick off-white head. Malty flavor has appreciable hoppy and fruity notes and just a hint of hop bitterness. Smooth flavor has about average body and a good amount of ragged fizz. Though not spectacular, still an enjoyable brew.

Malt, wood, and some light pine hop in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet with some wood notes, then finishes with some hop bitterness. A lot more subtle than most IPAs, but still really good.
