Roasty aroma with some lighter notes of chocolate milk. The flavor has sweet and roasted malt with notes of chocolate. Not bad. Bockyhorsey (2561), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Botle. For a sweet stout aroma surprised me a bit. Mild sweet malt and some smoke in aroma. Black body highly carbinated big head. Creamy sweet caramel with some moderate chocolate in the flavor. Odd brew flavor changed with each gulp. oteyj (822), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Dark brown pour with a non-existant head- a white sudsy ring forms and lasts througout. Aroma is oatmeal, sour milk, cream, and barley grain. Flavor is a welcome change from the aroma- lactic sugars, sweet oatmeal-est, and a mellow milk chocolate subside into a barely noticable coffee note. Palate is medium bodied, with low effervescence and a refreshing, clean finish. Not bad at all. craftycarl21 (601), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Dark brown pour, almost no head. Aroma is mostly sour milk and oatmeal, also a bit of grain; not very pleasant. Flavor really isn’t bad; I was expecting something horrific after that aroma. Taste is like a classic milk stout; lactic qualities, along with a bit of chocolate and coffee- maybe some oat notes as well. Palate is average, but not bad. People seem to really be hating this beer, but it’s not all that bad. drpimento (883), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 10, 2009 Yawner. Especially for this beer style. Poured with a short but enduring tan head and good lace. Aroma is mild of malt, roastiness, caramel, and chocolate. Flavor’s about the same, but with some tartness and funkyness. Body is thin and ok carbonation. Not one of my favs. Cant see it as a session. thornecb (1819), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Pours black into a snifter. Tan head recedes leaving no lacing to hug rim. Chocolate aromas. Sharp, tingling sweet summer fruit upfront. Cybercat (828), Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Pours deep, opaque sable with a fairly thick, if not persistent, light tan head. Aroma is malty and yeasty as well as chocolaty and a little sweet. Flavor is more like an ale than a stout, mainly malty with a chocolaty undertone and nutty and coffee hints - tasty nonetheless. Texture is smooth and fairly tingly. Dang, I really like for a stout to taste like a stout. porterhouse (1165), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2009 (330 ml bottle from Global Beverage) Pours very dark brown with some rubyish-amber highlights. Two or three fingers of tan head eventually recede to a somewhat globby unattractive covering. Aroma of mostly chocolate. Mouthfeel lightly prickly, perhaps a bit thin, fairly unremarkable. Flavor of light chocolate, really no roastiness or anything too remarkable. A bit wooden. Didn’t notice the word "lacto" on the label.
