Bottle. Pours deep black cola with decent tan head. Aromas of coffee, choc, roasted sweet malts, floral hop notes over coffee. Med light body, med zesty carbonation finishing seemingly dry and satisfying and lightly acidic.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cantabrian (382) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 10, 2013
Not the aroma I would expect on a milk stout, but here I got green olive in oil. Nice and...er, "Tuscan", believe it or not. Looks pretty decent, black with a reasonable cream head, but nothing to brag about. The flavour is lovely sweet chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, biscuits and a touch of Port. The palate is the best feature, milky, silky, creamy, in spite of the medium body. Lovely stout, "omedetou" for Hitachino Nest for not being shy of making its Lacto!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 zacgillbanks (957) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2013
Bottle from Brewdog website. This black beer pours with a quickly disappearing tan head. Sweet milk chocolate flavours are followed by red fruit notes, vanilla and slight roasted notes on the finish.

Nearly black with red tints..thick, tan head.
Scent is milky, chocolate
Taste is roasty milk chocolate...milk/cream.
Soft and sweet....a hint of sourness in the lactic.
Enjoyable.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 GoufCustom (220) - HONG KONG - FEB 21, 2013
(Note: my bottle listed the malts in the brew are Pale, Crystal, and Caramel, and the abv is 4.5%)
Clear blackish brown colour; Razor thin head and minimal beige foam which fades in 10 seconds; Almost no lacing and carbonation; Strong aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, caramel and faint malt; Pleasant, somewhat low key taste of milk, chocolate, light toffee, light malt and light grass; Mid to light body, thin but smooth palate; Taste profile is dominated by pretty rich milk taste as the backbone, followed by light malt and then hidden liquorices and subtle grassy hops and very mild bitterness as a semi-finish. Slightly dry aftertaste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: unlike the classic, expressive Mackeson XXX, this one is all smooth sailing - all the tastes are pretty mild and comfortable - so much so I thought I was drinking a iced latte instead of milk stout. Enjoyable in a comfy cosy way, nothing colourful or offensive. Sweet stout purists may find this brew boring, but I like it a lot. Take your pick.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mkel07 (2340) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - FEB 5, 2013
330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. This beer loos very good when poured into a glass. It s a deep black colour that you would expect the deepest darkest depths of outer space to be and it has a crest of coffee coloured foam. The aroma rivals the appearance with a big nose full of sweet dark chocolate. Thin in the mouth bit a great flavour all the me. Light on the palate and at 4% you could easily drink plenty of these.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jonno (2001) - JAPAN - FEB 3, 2013
Not a bad little brew at 4%. Some chocolate, light roast a hint of sourness. Light bodied as expected. Decent dry roast finish.
