3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I don’t really understand why this beer is being rated so low. It’s a solid milk stout, even reminding me of Three Floyds’ before they started over-hopping it. Granted, it’s not as boozy or full bodied as that brew. I still get the same tasting notes and aroma that Moloko had a few years ago. The nose is chocolate and coffee. Slight milky creaminess upon tasting, but not the usual body I’m expecting. There is a barely noticeable bitter finish. The main flavors I perceive are chocolate, milky sweetness, and a tiny bit of sourness, but not anything that is off-putting. I’ve had Flemish sours that were much more intense than this and I still found them enjoyable. Overall a highly drinkable brew, though I do prefer the Espresso Stout from Hitachino Nest. I just wish it was a bit more boozy as I think that would add more complexity.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Vesuvio, Darlington. Pours black with a quickly fading tan head. Pretty thin tasting with some decent coffee notes and a fair bit of sweetness. A bit too carbonated too. An OK stout.

Opaque, dark brown with a coffee foam. Nice dark chocolate aroma, coffee bitternes and some lacto stint. Hint of roasted malt, some chocolate, not much more. Lacto comes in the aftertaste. Lively beer, pretty slim.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Color and aroma are everything you would expect from a stout. Way too much carbonation for a stout, pretty dry on the palate. Slightly sweet, coffee flavor in the after taste.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rich aroma, malty and maybe vaguely soy saucey. Dark appearance, tan head. Quite a rich taste too, a bit burned perhaps almost Marmite-y, quite sweet as you’d expect. Fizzy for a stout, bitter on the palate. Quite nice overall!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Euston Tap, London on 2 May. Poured a really dark brown; close to black, with a dense beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, creamy milk and cocoa. Initial flavours were a little on the sweet side; some fruit cake, chocolate and chewy malt. Finish was toasted malt, tobacco and sticky fruit.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with a red tint and a frothy, lacy, lasting, beige head. Smells of deep malt, chocolate, caramel, grain, cedar and vanilla. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Tastes of sweet malt, with nice roast and coffee bitter balancing it out. Figs and cacao. And a slightly metallic finish. A nice enjoyable stout

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mildly pleasant aroma of chocolate and nuts. Really dark, black colour. Where some are deep red this is pure black. Very flight had. Beige colour head. Tastes like liquid coffee chocolate. Not as strong as I would have thought. Bit too fizzy. First Japanese porter though.
