330ml bottle from Kaubamaja in Tallinn. Hazy amber colour, small frothy mostly lasting off-white head, fair lacing. Moderately malty aroma of toast, caramel and hay with moderate earthy and resiny hops and some fruity yeast esthers. Taste is initially slightly sweet, bitter in the middle and bittersweet in the end with a moderately astrigent feel. Medium body, slick mouthfeel avrage carbonation. A fairly tasty very English-style ale.

Draught at the BrewDog Camden on 17 Mar 2012. Poured a dark golden colour, with a thin white head. Aroma of floral hops, toasted malt and berries. Caramel in the flavour, with leafy hops and some spruce. Finish was resin, tinned fruit and marmalade.

Restrained aroma and head with deep copper colour. Tends to the UK take on the style with a malt forward start, bitter middle, and slightly tart finish.

Kauge (410) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 21, 2014
33 cl bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja (€ 3,70). BB 04.2015. Love the cap with its owl picture! Pours a dark coppery amber colour, head is off-white, quite big with good retention and some lacing. Sweet, somewhat bready malt aroma with herbal-grassy bitterness. Taste semisweet, malty and grainy with a caramelly note. Thin body with crisp carbonation, mouthfeel... dry, grainy and metallic - not very pleasant. Can’t say I enjoyed this...

Pale brown colour. Aroma is packed full of sweet malts. Flavour is also sweet and malty with a touch of caramel. Slight bitterness in the finish balances it well.

Aroma is rich roasty malts, raisins, fig and slifht sulphur. Taste is sweet dark malts with caramel and toffee notes. Slight pleasant bitterness on finish. Appearance is a cloudy brown/copper with a foamy pearl head that retains fairly well.

StuartC (37) - Lochgilphead, Argyll, SCOTLAND - JUL 22, 2014
Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Clear amber-orange colour with only a very slight head. Distinctive biscuity, sweet cinnamon malt aromas (almost same sweet smell as produced by Edinburgh’s North British Distillery!). Pretty softly flavoured, until aerated... then BANG more maltiness and caramel sweetness; still absent of any hop character. Not particularly complex, but what flavour there is is very tasty.

330ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn)
Nice english ESB maltiness, but a bit sweet and underattenuated, almost mashy. Nice ruddiness to the colour, agin looks like a slightly thin ESB. Taste sweeter and mashier than the aroma, some milkiness too. Feels dead. Carbonation crisp, but that’s no substitute for actually being alive in the mouth. Sweetness/stickiness not cancelled by it. Real real ale version of this might be nice, but this is a little disappointing. In particular as I know these guys can do some very good stuff. Finish is nice, the malts come together more coherently, cleaner, grainier, less mashy, makes you feel you did just have an ESB.
