rmalloy (177), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA Jul 15, 2007 It annoys me that a beer this distinctive and enjoyable is rated so low. I really like the red rice taste in this clean beer that goes very well with Asian food.
explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Sep 29, 2008 This beer has a hazy light plum color with a very thin head. My bottle was fairly settled but there seems to be a larger-than-normal amount of yeast in suspension. Some nice sour aroma with a little funkiness in it, apparently from the rice. The body is a little thin and has a little underlying cherry. Dubbercody (171), Vancouver, Washington, USA Sep 28, 2008 Hazy cloudy coppery side of straw. Yeasty beer smell. Flavor is sour, but also has a deeper complexity as you work your way into the glass. Cider, yeast, some earthy flavors in there too.
Interesting beer, not something I wold drink on a regular basis, but an awesome birthday present beer. buzzoven (152), Japan Sep 28, 2008 Kinda surprised at some of the low opinions on this one; but it is a rather unique beer. Pinkish golden in colour, malty and slightly fruity on the nose. Taste brings out some interesting characteristics such as rhubarb, radish, cotton candy, oak, cider, apple juice, little bit of spice, and the red rice is in there somewhere as well...(although if you are living in a country where that type of rice is not frequently served then it may be difficult to pinpoint). There’s something of a Belgian twist here in this ale, but not overtly so. Perhaps this beer is not for everyone but I like it quite a bit; especially good for some crisp Autumn evening. GadgetGeek (26), Snellville, Georgia, USA Sep 27, 2008 Just not my style of beer I guess? I thought possibly that the beer was mishandled somewhere along the line as I drank a bottle (bought 3 bottles) before I read any reviews. Sour, not bitter, almost a cider taste too it. I wont’ buy this one again. astrofrk (50), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 21, 2008 Hazy Copper. Fast head. Aroma: Yeast, berries, caramel. Flavor: Same but sour. Sour finish. Didn’t care for it.
