This Red Rice Ale was brewed with special red rice which had been cultured in ancient times in Japan. Please enjoy the complex taste and beautiful natural color. The ale has complex Sake like flavours with a hint of strawberry in the nose and palate.

THOUGHTS: Complex, but in a fairly subtle way. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it had a lot of complexity for a beer that was full of lighter flavors that aren’t necessarily all that complex. Hid alcohol fairly well among such light flavors. I was surprised that it was quite sour. Great balance with sweetness, sourness and acidity. But complex doesn’t always mean great. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, orangey gold with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light cereal; moderate fruity, dusty and musty yeast; pear; peach, pineapple; a little flora; lemon; lemon rind; apricot, and slightly sour fruit. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, sour and acidic, and slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and bitter, and moderately sour and acidic with a surprisingly long duration for all the the light flavors. There was light fruits, light citrus, pear, peach, green grape, lemon, apricot, maybe a little pineapple, a little citrus rind, pineapple near the edge where it is bitter; yeast; sour fruit; a little honey; and duty and musty yeast. The light to medium and dry body was made to feel even lighter by fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

330 ml bottle poured at nudoru noodle house on whyte ave. Pourscloudy Amber with a beige head. Smell is grains and malt with a sweet undertone. Malty taste with a ricey (is that a word?) finish. Decent beer.

Rotbraune Farbe. Leicht säuerlicher Geruch. Sehr cremig, etwas malzig aber doch, vermutlich durch den Hopfen, recht frisch.

May ’16. A 0.33 l bottle that poured a hazy reddish orange body with medium sized head. Weird aroma of herbs, citrus, tropical fruits, berries. Flavor was lightly sour, chalky, alcoholic from rice, like a sake always feels more alcoholic than it is. Medium body with moderately long finish, rice, caramel, some cooked vegetables and light dry bitterness. Quite weird, but glad to have tried it anyway.

Bottle, 330ml. Pours clear copper-orange, with short lasting, pale colored head. Scent of yeast and canned corm, sweet malt. Body is medium-thick, with medium-low carbonation. Taste quite sweet, but not overly so, well balanced by gentle but present bitterness, and some acidity. Flavors of honey, yeast, hops, caramel, roasted bitterness, malt, spice, lemon, canned corn, lightly fruity. It has a many Belgian ale attributes, but more strongly hopped. Bet when cold, ass it gets too acidic if left to sit too much.

Bottled, 330ml at The Fizzy Moon Brewhouse, Leamington Spa, Warks. Clouded red amber with white head. Quite a rich, full beer, there is a fruitiness, berries, strawberry, blackberry then a hopped tropical fruit note. There is an alcohol hit, fairly sharp. All in all pretty decent.

Not my favorite kind of style. But easy to drink. Smells strong thought tastes a bit weak for the smell.

Pours a vivid amber with a noticeable head. Heady aromas of banana, fruit and sherried wine, which carry through to the taste. Rich but clean mouthfeel with a slightly bitter, warming aftertaste. Excellent and balanced.

Bouteille 33 cl - couleur rouge, odeur sur le fruit rouge, goût assez particulier porté sur le fruité rouge, légérement sucré et une note très prononcé de riz ! Cela rends particulière cette bière, assez agréable

Red and medium-bodied. Malty and fruity aroma and flavour, with a bit of acidity. Lightly sweet taste with no bitterness. The rice adds a special character to the beer but overall, this is not something I will revisit. The beer is quite unique, though.
