COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Red Rice Ale was brewed with special red rice which had been cultured in ancient times in Japan. Please enjoy the complex taste and beautiful natural color. The ale has complex Sake like flavours with a hint of strawberry in the nose and palate.

THOUGHTS: Complex, but in a fairly subtle way. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it had a lot of complexity for a beer that was full of lighter flavors that aren’t necessarily all that complex. Hid alcohol fairly well among such light flavors. I was surprised that it was quite sour. Great balance with sweetness, sourness and acidity. But complex doesn’t always mean great. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, orangey gold with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light cereal; moderate fruity, dusty and musty yeast; pear; peach, pineapple; a little flora; lemon; lemon rind; apricot, and slightly sour fruit. The initial flavor was lightly sweet, sour and acidic, and slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and bitter, and moderately sour and acidic with a surprisingly long duration for all the the light flavors. There was light fruits, light citrus, pear, peach, green grape, lemon, apricot, maybe a little pineapple, a little citrus rind, pineapple near the edge where it is bitter; yeast; sour fruit; a little honey; and duty and musty yeast. The light to medium and dry body was made to feel even lighter by fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

Aus der Flasche. Rot-braune etwas schmutzige Farbe, flacher Schaum. Es riecht etwas ungewohnt nach Rauch, Säure und Hefe. Würziger Geschmack. Etwas alkoholisch nach Sake. Im Abgang Himbeere.

Bottle from Yamaya. Turbid orange amber with a pinkish hue, low dissolving head. Rice with rose and berries, opens up after a few minutes, quite lovely. Similar flavour, strawberry comes out clearly, light booze tinge like a low-alcohol sake. Light caramel toffee as I get down the glass. The rice and booze mix aligns my palate to adjunct happoshu a tad, but the medium body and modest flavours make it pleasing. Interesting beer.

33 cl, bottled. Pours cloudy reddish orange with small white head. Aroma: Mild malt, rice, sweetish aroma. Brined olives, rubber. Taste: Medium sweet at first, rice, malt. Minimal bitterness. Sweetness increases, quite sweet. Palate: Light body, average carbonation. Too sweet to my liking.

Ambar, escasa espuma poco duradera, deja película. Aroma no muy marcado ligeramente lupulado. Cuerpo moderado, gas marcado sin molestar, frutal en el sabor, frambuesa, cereza. Final seco y más amargo. Buena, no entre las mejores de la casa.
