Subtle, complex flavors. Slightly sour and yet rich. I often drink this at the sushi bar when I’m not in the mood for sake. Pairs quite well with the fish.

Light amber colour, with pink reflections - pretty beautiful; very white foam, not persistent. Light smell of malt, sweet, hint of raspberry. Balance between smoothness and bitterness. Tasted with Japanese meals (makis, okonomiyaki, mochis). Smell both subtle and intense that spread widely out of the glass !

Aroma reminds of rice based alcohols found across Asia. Rather surprised how close to a regular ale this red rice ale can get. Aftertaste of light candy sweetness slash light alcohol. Rather different from what I’m used to drink.

Hazy orange beer with smallish head. Aroma has, well I don’t know! Ham? Boiled rice? Sake? Aroma is so weird that I hardly recognize anything from it. Taste has some honey, sake, rice and dried fruits. Medium body and medium carbonation. Very strange beer.

I review beer on my site beerjapan.com and I gave this the highest rating yet. I loved it and rate it as one of the best beers I ever found!

330ml bottle. Hazy orange pour. Interesting aroma. Lemon, grass, rose petal. Sweetish taste, bubblegum fruitiness, again a kind of floral aspect. Quite an unusual taste which I’d perhaps put down to the sake yeast. Not sure I fully appreciate it though. Worth a try.

Hazy bronze colour with a thick creamy head of foam. A grassy hop smell. Taste is of grain and a nondescript bitterness that does remind me of grass but more of an earthiness going on. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Good.
