This Red Rice Ale was brewed with special red rice which had been cultured in ancient times in Japan. Please enjoy the complex taste and beautiful natural color.

I was quite impressed with this. I It has a red amber tone with a medium head. It’s just different and worth the try.

Hitachino Nest Red Rice has a very thick, off-white, crackly head, a hazy, red-gold appearance, and minimal lacing left on the glass. The aroma is an odd combination of smoke, strawberry juice, bread, sweetness, and boiled rice. Taste is of fairly heavy smoke (rauchbier?), some strawberry, white bread, semi-burned popcorn kernel, head shop incense, and low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Hitachino Nest Red Rice Ale finishes not so dry and highly gulp-able. RJT

In my opinion this is the most underrated beer from Hitachino. Great beer, pioneer in the craft beer world, introducing rice. Welled balance and nice flavor. Highly recommended and a must to understand evolution of craft beer today.

Bona cervesa ama aroma a llúpol, en boca es nota molt lleugera i amb tocs afriutats. Buena cerveza con aroma a lúpulo, en boca se nota muy ligera y con toques frutados.

Light amber colour, with pink reflections - pretty beautiful; very white foam, not persistent. Light smell of malt, sweet, hint of raspberry. Balance between smoothness and bitterness. Tasted with Japanese meals (makis, okonomiyaki, mochis). Smell both subtle and intense that spread widely out of the glass !

Aroma reminds of rice based alcohols found across Asia. Rather surprised how close to a regular ale this red rice ale can get. Aftertaste of light candy sweetness slash light alcohol. Rather different from what I’m used to drink.

Hazy orange beer with smallish head. Aroma has, well I don’t know! Ham? Boiled rice? Sake? Aroma is so weird that I hardly recognize anything from it. Taste has some honey, sake, rice and dried fruits. Medium body and medium carbonation. Very strange beer.
