330ml brown bottle. Initial pour was disapointingly clear, but this bottle was heavily sedimented. After a good rousing the appearance changes for the better, deeper golden shade and suitably hazy for the style. It holds a small white cap with very modest lacing. Nose has big clove, lemon, spice and banana. Taste has a wheat malt base, lemon and clove. Dry finish, lingering wheat and trace spicy yeast. Light body, average carbonation. Fairly typical weizen, decent overall.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2014 Bottle. Pours with a nice head which dissipates quickly. Golden colour, although a little cloudy. Gentle nose, hints of lemon grass. Banana with some citrus. Not sweet, but a little bitter in aftertaste.

24.3 oz bottle into weizen glass, bottled in 12/2013. Pours hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of banana, lemon, pear, apple, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, malt, and light hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of banana, lemon, pear, apple, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light wheat tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of banana, lemon, pear, apple, clove, wheat, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, malt, and light hop flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice hefeweizen. Good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, malt, and light hop flavors; and very smoot hand crisp to drink. The yeast flavors were not as bold as I expected for the style, but it did not feel watery. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have banana, cloves, wheat, yeast, some citrus notes. Pretty clean, just not something I would drink very often.

Aroma is lemon grass, yeast, citrus, and light clove hopiness. Taste is a light sweet maltiness with a fair about of clove bitterness that finishes reasonably. Appearance is straw with a pearl bubbly head that retains poorly.

This is a nice ’vice’ beer. It has a lot of mineral, earthy, stone and steel aroma. While it pours cloudy golden with a disappearing white head, unbefitting of the profile, the aroma and flavors of sweet mineral and stone make up for it. Its a very pleasing beer that connects one back with nature.

Aroma: yeast, wheat, citrus fruits. Appearance: hazy pale gold, medium frothy head.Taste: light sweet. Palate: sweet wheat, cereals, wheat again, quite a short finish. Overall: OK Hefeweizen, but lacks the complexity of its German rivals. Bottle from BottleDog Kings Cross, Holborn.

11.2 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of strong wheat and yeast with some yuzu and citrus. The taste is heavy spice, yeast, doughy wheat, mild banana and a faint citrus bite in the finish. Medium bodied, mild lingering spice, high carbonation, decent balance. Solid beer.
