3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Finally a bottle from Hitachino that didn’t explode once opened. Pours with a huge amount of soda like fizz head but it quickly retreats leaving behind a naked beer the color of gold with a tint of white. Barely are there sign of aroma and what aroma there is it’s minor with notes of grained barley and dash of coriander or other spicing. The flavor is lightly spiced with coriander and orange peel but overall subtle and to its advantage tasting more authentic to white ale then other micro’s I have tasted from the states.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
330ml bottle (Ales By Mail) - shared by vastactiv - thanks!
Quite heady and heavy for a wit - you can smell the spices. Cloudy pale yellow. Uber papery taste. Horrible in the mouth, so much paper. Do not want to rate this, want to throw it away!

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a rapidly disappearing white head and no lacing. Smells of spices, coriander, lemon, and wheat. Taste is the same as the aroma but with a slightly metallic off-flavor. Finish is crisp but without any hoppiness but with a faint lingering grapefruit skin bitterness and a disquieting metallic tinge to it. The palate is very thin, relatively over carbonated, and has an absence of any substantive malt or wheat body. There is none of the inviting citrus overtones that I would normally expect from this style to provide balance. A very disappointing beer.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 04/14, courtesy of VastActiv, 20130914) The beer poured yellow and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, coriander and citricness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spices, paper, coriander and bitterness. Afteraste was fruity, spicy and bitter. A decent wit.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Last Night at The Penguin, 29/08/13. Fine-haloed dusty yellow. Botanical, orange peel, dill-sodden nose; crisp and unusual. Paper and spruce front easing into perfumed slickness with more dried dill, lemongrass and wheat biscuit notes. I like it. In a way.
