2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a rapidly disappearing white head and no lacing. Smells of spices, coriander, lemon, and wheat. Taste is the same as the aroma but with a slightly metallic off-flavor. Finish is crisp but without any hoppiness but with a faint lingering grapefruit skin bitterness and a disquieting metallic tinge to it. The palate is very thin, relatively over carbonated, and has an absence of any substantive malt or wheat body. There is none of the inviting citrus overtones that I would normally expect from this style to provide balance. A very disappointing beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
an old favorite. Pours light cloudy and glowing golden with a decent head. Aroma of citrus, spice and tropical fruit. Taste of pineapple and spicy yeast esters, and wheaty goodness. Light palate but substantial and nice body. a bit sweet but I like it and it works with the style.

Bottled. ive had two bottles in 20 minutes ,its a bit subduded =was expecting more balls í. the head lasts five seconds and that is symbolic of the whole experience, the palate is tart , dry and spicy sweet , notes of aprICOT and all that shit but a bit soulless.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
11.2 oz bottle, poured into a tulip glass at approximately 45 degrees F.
A: Pours a cloudy deep golden straw, and forms roughly two fingers of white head that dies swiftly to a ring. Carbonation flows continuously from the bottom of the glass.
S: Funk swirls out of the aroma first, almost leading me to wonder if this is actually a saison rather than a wit. Citrus and spices follow, wreathed in the mustiness, and a very faint touch of wheat brings up the rear.
T: Wow, thatís citrus - this beer is extremely heavy on the orange notes. The musty funk from the scent carries through to the taste as well, as if one is drinking orange juice that is just past itís "drink by" date and is starting to turn sour. Some spice swims far off in the distance of the flavor profile, though Iíd be hard-pressed to pull individual spice notes out from the blanket of sour orange juice. At the finish, thereís a distinct carbonation sharpness and bite.
M: Light and highly carbonated, this is a sharp, dry beer.
O: Were this beer classified as some form of saison, Iíd be all about the sourness thatís present. It seems a bit out of place for a witbier, though. I can appreciate why this is rated as highly as it is, given the tendency towards appreciation for sours/wilds and intense flavors. I find this to be a very simple, club-you-over-the-head-with-a-single-flavor beer, which is not what Iím looking for in any Belgian style. Not my favorite wit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, from Waitrose. Cloudy lemon gold, thin but lasting white head and gentle condition. Muted lemon citrus and a low spiciness in the nose, some yeasty phenols as it warms. Full bodied and slightly sweet initially in the mouth, becoming slightly citric with hints of lemon, some yeastiness and finally a peppery spiciness. Finish has a delicate sweet lemon note followed by a chalky yeastiness and a lingering spice note.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
33cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell. A cloudy pale amber pour with a fast fading white head; orange peel and coriander aroma; soft fruity taste, with the orange coming through; the orange juice makes the finish rather sticky, with some very gentle spice inthe background. A pleasant enough witbier - a change from the standard Belgian examples.
