Pours straw coloured, not clear, medium head. Aroma: very nice orange, coriander and some grass aromas. Taste: similar to the aroma but not as intense as I was hoping. However, generally a great beer-especially for the summer.

Pours a cloudy straw gold with a short white head. It has a nice aroma of pale malt, orange and coriander, and some bread. The flavor is spice and some orange and malt up front with a slightly sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This Wit has a very good reputation so I’m expecting a good showing for me. From the old Trix commercial....it’s a lemon yellow,(cloudy) good stoutish head of foam to begin with but it does shrink rather quickly. There isn’t an abundance of lacing left behind. The smell is classic Witbier, with lovely coriander, wheat, some nice sweet notes kind of sugar candi like, light clove, a refreshing? fruitiness of lemon zest. Nose, move over. It’s mouth’s turn. And the enjoyment continues. There are no surprises at all in the taste. A wonderfully fully flavoured Wit that expresses everything I mentioned in the smell but...it’s so darn smooth and balanced. This drives the drinkability right out of the ball park for me. 24.3 ounces of pure nectar and I see, looking at the bottom of the bottle, a whole lot of stubborn sentiment. Get in me glass, I say! A near perfect mouthfeel with the abv right where it ought to be, I reckon THIS is what I’d call one of the benchmarks for the style. No doot aboot it.

Japanese witbeer with coriander, orange peels and nutmeg. Fruity and refreshing, with a too heavy tail that drags down the total impression considerably. Although it is initially very exciting and refreshing, it loses its momentum during the first few sips.

Bottle in the Town Street Tavern, Horsforth. Hazy golden with a touch of white froth. Starts with a little spiciness before smooth wheat notes and citrus hop. A very tasty wheat beer.

Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Pours a cloudy yellowy colour with structured head; Creamy orange and nutmeg aromas dominate; Rich spice on the palate - more ginger than nutmeg - and no trace of citrus acidity. Very tasty yet somewhat disappointing in its over dependence on the "brewed-with" flavours (no perceptible undertones!).

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, yellow colour with a blond medium-sized foamy head. Fruity and mildly flowery wheaty aroma with notes of citrus, lemon, orange peel, nutmeg and a whiff of coriander spice. Mildly sweet and delicately sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Moderately wheaty base with notes of white bread, citrus, lemon, nutmeg and a zesty touch; balanced, mildly sweet and slightly sourish wheaty finish with lingering fruity accents. Another rounded brew from Ibaraki. 30.IX.14
