Bottle. Pours a hazy brown-amber with a high, lacy, cream-colored large-grained head. Nose is malic and boozy with toffee, caramel, and whiskey notes; there’s dry sake overtones present. Not as sweet on the tongue, with very clear sake lees notes; cuts right through the heavy richness of the strong ale, balancing it nicely. Finish is long, boozy, and warm. Delicious.

12oz bottles a 2013 vintage and a 2010 vintage. Pours out a amber topped with a fizzy head. Nose of wood brett sour notes and some pit fruit. Taste is as the nose. 2010 seems to be a little sour and the 2013 seems to be more malts and pit fruit. Overall both different but pretty good.

Pours a lovely amber with a small white head. Doesn’t have much of an aroma but the taste is amazing. It has a subtle sweetness that goes down smooth with a clean finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated on 9-14-2009 (Bottle) This beer pours a small very fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, hazy orange body, very little carbonation observed, and one ring of lacing. The Aroma is caramel malt, oak, hops, and alcohol. The Taste is sweet, hint of fruit, caramel malt, alcohol, and a dry finish. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer smells better than it tastes. It reminds me of Sake which I am not very fond of. This beer is unusual in its flavors based on the style, but is worth trying.

Aroma of Brett, citrus, and perhaps spice. Pours a hazy tea color with a cherry glow around the edges of the glass and a white ring which produces no lacing. The taste is slightly sweet but rewarding. Brett, cherries, grain, with a crisp dry finish. Hints of sourness. A little alchohol noted in the aftertaste. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed this beer and would drink it again.

Possibly the sake influence, but this borders on a sour. Amber brown in color. Interesting take on the style.

Interestingly good. I can't place the base beer style; ratebeer says it's a Belgian but I don't taste that. Good sweet malt base. No bitterness and not overly hoppy. However, I am totally picking up on the sake notes, which is unique to me. And for that, I dig this beer. B+

Poured light brown with small, tight bubbles.
Smell is malty, sweet sugar. Not burnt but caramelized.
Taste is licorice, full bodied, smooth, boozy with no burn. Clean, smooth finish. Fun beer to sip.
