3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 oz. bottle at home. I had this a few times, but couldn’t find the notes so here goes. Pours a clear deep amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet sugary malts, wood, raisins, red grapes, apples, sake hints, some wild funky character, alcohol is mildly warming, interesting beer, that I would potentially revisit..

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy-cloudy amber-yellow with thin tan head that fades quickly to a swirly film. Aroma is caramel, pond vegetation, slight nutritional yeast. Body is somewhat syrupy, light carbonation. Flavor is caramel and bread crust, raisin. Sap and tree, light bitterness that lingers mildly. Bit of candy, nutty wood. A delightful strong ale, both sip-able and addictingly yummy.

Bottle.Orange hazy. Malty, some belgy- style yeasty notes, soft ripe peach, orange fruityness. Soft smooth malty body. Some almonds, orange zest. Pretty nice harmonious brew. Nothing too awesome, just sort of .. nice.

(Hitachino Nest XH Extra High) Bottle 330 ml from a trade with torriman, thanks! Into a tulip, ABV 8%
Deep red colour, quite hazy, with a tall and very thick and creamy off-white head on top. Excellent retention, medium lacing left on the glass.
Very fruity aroma, red fruits, some caramel, toffee.
Taste is rather sweet but surely not cloying. Again lots of red fruits, jam, caramel, toffee, well hidden alcohol, light vanilla even.
Medium thick body, soft carbonation, sticky palate.
One of the better belgian ales I’ve had and another solid one from Hitochino.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Grass-pine aroma with restrained head and deep brown colour. Surprisingly laid back and balanced body that hides it’s strength with ease. Didn’t get any ’Belgian’ flavour though - taste is similar to the other pale ales from the brewery (aka Anglo).

bottle @ home from Saveur-biere.com - Color: dark amber beer with small carbonation and small ivory white foam. Smell: malt, sweet malt, caramel, sugar, wheat presence. Woody notes. Taste: nice malt taste. Really nice work on the malt, with great cereals notes. Small alcohol notes with dry sensation. Candied fruits and plum notes. Aftertaste: malt and caramel, with dry sensation with plum notes. - Really nice beer! Amazing complexity, it’s not totally my style but I admire the work of the brewers to realize this beer! Amazing complexity with nice equilibrium. A must to try!

A delicious Belgian-inspired Strong Ale brewed in old Sake casks. It’s a great idea, uniquely Japanese.

Brune rousse.
