4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 pilgrimoutlaw (273) - Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 6, 2011
Pours murky reddish brown with white head. Musky odor. Creamy body. Aroma of grapes, lemon, pepper. The dominant taste is sour with some sweetness. If I close my eyes and sip this, it would be hard to distinguish this from a Pinot Grigio if it weren’t for the creamy body. I’m partial to sour Pinot Grigio’s, so thumb’s up.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BigBeer45 (934) - Michigan, USA - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle, the neck label on bottle read ‘7% alc.’,
this beer had a hazy red-brown pour with an off-white one finger high head, I saw particles in the drink along with effervescence,
and there was some lacing on the glass, there was no sediment except for a few drippings of particles on the bottom of the bottle,
the aromas were sour wood with light alcohols, toasted malt, various grain, and a hint of earthiness,
the flavors were toasted malt, grain, various hints of alcohol (Sake Casks?), some honey, bread and faint brown sugar sweetness and chocolate in the background, also, some faint dark fruit, there was a little bitterness at the finish that resembled pine needles?
the mouth feel was a little more than medium and gave a good creamy feel on the palate, this beer had a very nice mouth feel,
I could smell some alcohol in this beer but could not taste it or feel, a nice beer.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Lovely clear deep ruby red with a big, creamy, off-white to yellowish head. Wonderful looks. Aroma is sweet, light toasted, Belgian sugar, oak, rice, flowers (roses). Light estery. Medium carbonation, fine oily and fat mouthfeel. Flavour is mild vinious, sweet, caramel, sugar, light toasted. Good oaky dryness with an interesting flowery and kinda sticky sweet influence from the oak casks. Very interesting and lovely.
