Botella. Pours a deep golden like orange olour with a big nice beige like head, lasting ok. Pleasant sweet and fruity caramel aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and fruity with caramel, spice and alcohol.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Benjii (1686) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 14, 2011
Shared this bottle at the Brewdog Bar with Craig alongside the New Year Celebration Ale. Darker with more malt and hop character and less of the sake yeast quality and spices. The nose is of honey, caramel and candy sugar. Tastes sweet with a thick oily mouthfeel. Flavours of honey, toffee, caramel with some spicy hops. Dangerously drinkable given the abv.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marvid (44) - SWEDEN - JUL 12, 2011
Red coulours with a touch of brown. Very nice brownish head. You can smell the similarities with belgian beers, the wet wood that is distinguishable for example leffe. Together with the caramel and fruits from the taste this makes for a good beer. Just a hinch to much alcohol in the taste.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BenH (528) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 5, 2011
Quite an interesting aroma on this one, hard to place. Taste is quite sweet, again some interesting notes in there which I’m struggling to place, possibly from the saki barrels (never tried saki). Not like any other Belgian I’ve had, not really for me. Quite malty and hoppy. Could do with more carbonation IMO. Worth a try bit doubt I’ll have it again (especially at £16 a bottle - brewdog Edinburgh)
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 5, 2011
Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Deep near-brown orange hazy body, small off-white head. Faint hints of caramel and honey melon in the nose. Too faint for me. Taste is original and better pronounced, though: wild strawberries, citrus tones, sharp malty roasty boozy notes with some herbs in the finish. Quite original, and quite good. An fairly good strong ale all in all, despite the lacking aroma and perhaps a tad bit badly masked alcohol in the flavor profile, considering the "moderate" 8 % ABV (let’s face it, BSA is big league in this departement). OK, but not overtly impressive.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Allen (2402) - SWITZERLAND - JUL 4, 2011
Bottled. Shared this bottle with a really nice guy in the train. Lovely hop profile. Yeasty, balanced. Good bitterness. A lot going on throughout. I didn’t take too many notes unfortunately. A nice interpretation of a belgian strong ale with plenty of character.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 blafa (447) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - JUL 2, 2011
Pours light red with a brown hue. Beautiful beige foam. Aroma is cedar tree, wet wood, oranges and on top of that a fruity and earthiness. The taste is also quite complex, caramel, light chocolate, dried fruits and a warming sensation of alcohol. Finishes dry.
