Bottle, picked up at John’s Grocery, shared with Traci and Matt. Copper pour, lots of dense tan head. Candied orange aroma, leather, medicine cabinet. Big mouthfilling bubbles, briny black pepper, seaweed. Funky, full of lively interest. Dry winey finish. Yum!

Not the biggest nose; basically brown (Bourbon) biscuits, and a touch of plum. A bit more interesting once in the mouth: has the slightly chewy, sweet malt of a Belgian dubbel (a bit of dark choc at the bottom); also has something of the astringent/clean and strong backbone of a Belgian tripel. What is really nice is the kick of sake on the way out – a twist that also helps to make this stand out. Very nice.

szkło pełne drobnych farfocli, bursztynowe, piana niezbyt obfita, opada do wysepki, słabo koronkuje;
delikatny, słodki - syrop klonowy, cukier trzcinowy, rum, rodzynki, suszona brzoskwinia;
ciało wysokie, średnio nasycone, finisz goryczkowy, rozgrzewa przełyk, lekko drętwieje język;
bardzo słodki - za aromatem plus goryczka palonego karmelu i lekki alkohol;
nie jest złe, choć mogłoby być mniej słodkie.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2016 Grata sorpresa.

Hazy amber color with a tan head. Aroma is of dried fruits, almost wine-like. Fairly strong aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, well-integrated. Some toasty malt, a little sweetness. Interesting contributions from the casks, just a subtle woodiness in the background and on the finish.

355ml bottle served in a ordinary glass. Pours a cloudy amber color forming a medium creamy but not very persistent head that leaves very few spotty lacings in the glass. Nose is great: Strong sweert malts and dark fruit notes. Notes of oak, toffee, caramel malts and candy sugar. Light sour notes in the nose. Taste is sweet. Strong notes of caramel and crystal malts. Oak, dark dry fruits. Slightly sour notes. Great combination. Great bittersweet balance. Heavy body. Medium to low carbonation. Sweet and slightly sour and fruity aftertaste. Again, oak notes. Good drinkability. Great Strong beer. Quite well done.

from Bier-Bienne - hazy dark amber-orange beer with a little persistent beige foam; strong aroma of wood and caramel, gently oaky, dried figs; fairly sweet, full-bodied, long notes of ripe fruits, caramel and more woody tones - good yet too sweet for me

330ml bottle at home. Dark amber, hazy with yeast, light beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, belgi yeast and sweet bread. Taste is sweet malts, some fruit and overwhelming medicine bitterness. Surprisingly strong taste with some alcohol. Medium palate. Could be a bit sweeter.
