Cloudy dark brown colour with dusty sediments; Small head and off-white foams with faded quickly; Minimal lacing and slight carbonation; Aroma of banana, sake, brown sugar and toffee; Medium to light body; Potent sweet taste of sake, sugar, burnt toffee and caramel. Alcohol taste is definitely sake style, quite subdued at first but with a warming - boiling sensation with repeated tasting; Pronounced hop bitterness and astringency as finish. Dry after taste. Fairly easy to mouth.

Comments: this Japanese take on BSA is quite unique. Overall, its taste is somewhat reminiscent of Leffe Brune, but with a much stronger presence of sugar and sake tastiness. It is also comparable to Hoegaarden Grand Cru, but it’s darker, sweeter and even drier than the latter. As a BSA, its minuses being a deflating head, smell and taste are overtly sugar, burnt toffee and too hoppy. On the plus side, its sake character really gives it an interesting twist. So I think it’s a brew all by its own. Not a true BSA, but worth having it again for what it is.

From Club del Gourmet of El Corte Ingles. In Duvel glass. After dinner. At the month of its BB date. Nice caramel sweetness, like in some DIPAs but nicer, less stinky and more drinkable. Maybe my palate is getting used to this taste instead of this beer having a better flavor

Bottle. Hazy reddish-brown with a small beige head. Smell of dark dried fruits, toffee, honey, caramel, wood. Sweet, flavors of honey, caramel, prunes, raisins, milk chocolate, vanilla, light alcoholic warmth, finishes with nice balancing bitterness. Rather full bodied, low-medium carbonation, smooth texture. Good sipper.

0,33l Flasche aus NY. Kastanien Farben, süßer Dufdt. Röstaromen und alkoholische Süße. Vom Sake schmecke ich zu wenig.

It is a beautiful orange-red ale with persistent and fragrant foam. Pineapple and peach are among the many flavors you can find. The taste is adapted fruity, so it is not so sweet as the aroma might otherwise suggest. It has a dry flavor with a little hop to finish the amazing mouth feeling as this ale has. Storage and maturation of Sake barrels I can not therefore quite upscale, but a small tip tang of alcohol may still originate from there. It is very elegant and delicious, and it reminds me a lot about a Canadian beer called Maudite, coming from the brewery Unibroue.

The well done thing about this beer is that its taste profile manages to be almost exactly the same as its aroma profile, which is: dark caramels with slightly burnt edges, then something herbal sneaking in, before protruding into Asian territory: salty-sweet Chinese dried plums, some hints of candied Tamarind. Surprising and convincing.

Bottle at home. Dark orange colour. Tastes like a sweet porter. Weird. Caramel, raisin maltiness. Very drinkable.

Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass. This murky amber colored beer has a very small white head. The flavor is a very strong almost bourbon scented beer. The flavor is strong with an almost smoky flavor. Not a bad beer.

Bottle. Aroma: something alcoholic or whisky (sake barrel?), sweet, blue cheese, caramel, toffee, unusual combination. Taste: sweet, caramel, toffee, liquor, fruit, a little wood and other shades.

dense light yellowish head. amber colour. aroma is nutty, oxidation, like a barleywine, boozy. taste like aroma, caramel, sweetish aftertaste bitter. quite dense mouthfeel, soft carbonation. i tried it close to its bbf date so perhaps that’s why i got a lot of oxidation notes, but still nice! bottle 33cl / bbf oct-2015

8%ABV. Belgian Strong Ale. Poured out a beautifully inviting deep amber color. 16ºSRM. Nose was full of sweet malty flavors. They were clean ripe fruit flavors. Not hoppy or bright, but subdued and full of simple sugary gravitas. Mouthfeel was soapy and slightly syrupy with a ponderous malt-balance. There were some nice buttery toffee flavors, black bread and graham cracker were also featured. Pronounced hoppy finish which acted to mop up very pleasantly what would otherwise have been a heavy malty palate. Has a residual flavor of raisins. Lovely. Goes on Favorites List. (reminded me of Amager’s Batch 1000)
