Cloudy dark brown colour with dusty sediments; Small head and off-white foams with faded quickly; Minimal lacing and slight carbonation; Aroma of banana, sake, brown sugar and toffee; Medium to light body; Potent sweet taste of sake, sugar, burnt toffee and caramel. Alcohol taste is definitely sake style, quite subdued at first but with a warming - boiling sensation with repeated tasting; Pronounced hop bitterness and astringency as finish. Dry after taste. Fairly easy to mouth.

Comments: this Japanese take on BSA is quite unique. Overall, its taste is somewhat reminiscent of Leffe Brune, but with a much stronger presence of sugar and sake tastiness. It is also comparable to Hoegaarden Grand Cru, but it’s darker, sweeter and even drier than the latter. As a BSA, its minuses being a deflating head, smell and taste are overtly sugar, burnt toffee and too hoppy. On the plus side, its sake character really gives it an interesting twist. So I think it’s a brew all by its own. Not a true BSA, but worth having it again for what it is.

Bottle. Clear reddish brown colour. Aroma fruity, caramel-toffee, light hops, light diacetyl. Taste rich malty, caramel, light chocolate. Hops reveals itself in the finish, rather noble characer, herbal. Very good.

Draft at SIB07 and a few other times in the past 7 years in the bottle. Beautiful sake filled nose with hints of cocoa and candi sugar. Dark fruits on the front, sake blasts in the middle with rich notes of plum and yum, dry finish with a slight alcohol note with more sake. Dank.

pours hazy bright red with a nice creamy light beige-reddish head, good retention and lacing. semi-sweet toasted fruitiness - slightly off with an hint of garbage - over-ripened cherries perhaps, , peppery leathery bretts, mint, pepper, bit of ashes, hint of smoke (!) and sweetness - maple syrup. average carbonation, light to medium body - oily, woodsy-astringent and grassy-peppery finish. unintentional comtamination perhaps. unique.

Pleasant maltiness, some caramel, light hops, fruity, interesting spices, light yeasty. Didnt catch a lot of sake, light alco. Thou it was late evening, so I may be bit blurry. Quite sweet with light bitterness, decent, but nothing special

Interesting thick aroma without being heavy, oddly. Concentrated sweetness but in the form of red and dark fruity, not of dried fig or brown sugar. Dark caramel and a constant moderate presence of herbal and tea like hops. Nice body, justifies the 8% for sure, with a fine yet surprisingly lasting carbonation, tinteling the tong after the main sweetness has well gone. Strangely drinkable for such an intricate beer with lots of complexities from start to finish. Unique, different take on a beery powerhouse and working lovely. If this is typical for sake barrel aging, bring me more! (Bottle from Le Bon Marché Paris)

0,33L bottle, BB 03.2015. Pours hazy copper with light tan head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is raisins, malt, fruits. Flavor is sweet, raisins, malt, yeast, fruits. Finish is fruity dry bitter. Alcohol is rather well covered. Overall: very nice brew, really easy to drink.

Bottle shared by czar, thanks bro! Pours a hazy light copper with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is weird to say the least: cheese, sake yeast I figure, garbage and dry cat food. Taste is not really cardboard-y but I think it still carries some level of oxidation. Flavors are lightly sweet, cotton candy-like, with some dust and leather (brett?). It finishes on some weird grainy/floury/oaky mix I associate with the sake and the cask it came in. It was perfumey and strange, not bad but really hard to rate. Body was medium, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel sticky. Overall it was a weird combo but it was fun to try once.

Pour is hazy dark amber with a good, durable, creamy head, vg lacing Sake barrel treatment comes out clearly about mid-taste, and is also present in the aroma. Aroma has decent complexity, as does the flavor, which has both bready and fruity notes too. Medium-full body; medium+ carbonation; smooth. O interesting Japanese beer.

Inte deras absolut bästa öl men klart godkänd. Hade gärna velat prova den igen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
