Cloudy copper color, with a slight off white head. Smells strongly of sake and yeast. Bready and lightly toasty start with a large sake punch, vanilla and caramel, crisp carbonation on the finish. Very good, but the sake could get overwhelming.

Pours a hazy red-brown with a small white head. Aromas of caramel, spices, and mandarin oranges. A crisp "autumn air" smell cleans out the nose in the end. Flavors of caramel, molasses, sake, and honey fill out the palate.

Very boozy nose with lots of roast malt. Highly carbonated mouth feel, with wood, a bit of smoke, some sour cherry. Quite tasty but not quite up to the standards of my favorite belgian darks. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Rich amber beer like aroma topped with sugary sweetness. Strawberry aroma. Reddish amber colour. Minimal brownish foam. Malty taste. Aftertaste of roasting tending to a certain degree of coffeeness. Carbonation is soft. It seems the Japanese know how to make Belgian beer :)

One finger head, malty woody sweet robust mouth feel. Rich and dark, lingering sweet finish with a mild bite. It's tasty...

330 ml. bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden red with a small beige head. Aroma of malt, fruit, wood, and sake. Taste is caramel malt, dark fruit, barrel, sake, and a touch of hops. Different in a good way.

330ml bottle. pours quite a hazy muddy brown with light beige head. Aroma is a little alcoholic, hoppy, earthy and weak dark fruits. but it’s a very nice well balanced taste. alcohol is well hidden. very smooth. slightly sweet, caramel, roasted malts and a finish of prunes and dates.

Smell of sour Japanese rice wine. Taste of rice at long finish. Good bitterness and right texture, it might smell and taste unusual for some people, but I love this. Like food, some people would sometime enjoy sushi, some other just keep eating hamburgers. Enough said

It is with a due sense of resignation and dread that I review this beer. Why is it 8%? Am I stupid for buying this? I probably am, but in all honesty, I review this out of ignorance of any alarms telling me not to. It’s a darker colour than I was anticipating. More reddish peachy with nil head, nil carbonation and a slight haze. This does not mean that it isn’t a good looking beer though. Aromas trend toward Bakewell tart, pastry, stewed peaches, nectarines and apricots. It is well runded and full in the mouth with some dessert sweetness and a tinging of mouthfeel. I am pleasantly surprised, happy and contented.
