12 oz. bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a rich tan head. The aroma has toasted malt, lots of sourness, funky yeasty qualities, graininess, anise and other spices. The funk almost gives a Jolly Pumpkin type of hint to it. Medium slick body that has a multitude of micro-sized carbonation coating the tongue, but never intruding on the flavor. The flavor starts with all kinds of funkiness that seems like an enjoyable infection was going on here. There is also dark malt, anise, fitting mustiness and something I can’t put my finger on (probably sake). The finish is sour with some burntness and a hint of elderberries. A great beer.

Bottle poured a clear tarnished copper with a lasting amber head, Aromas of fruittiness, oak, toffee, carmel, coriander and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, toffee, apple, pear, spice and light vanilla with a smooth lingering boozy finish.

Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours hazy lazy copper with thin tan head. The aroma is malty sweet for just a moment before a load of tartness unleashes itself on the unsuspecting senses with acidic damage all around (I swear I saw one olfactory nerve ending being carried off the smelling arena on a stretcher). I get just a faint wood note way in the back. The taste is much like the nose with a moment of malty slightly caramelized sweetness before the tartness takes over with a faint note of wood just noticeable at first. The influence of the wood grows a bit into the finish with more tartness going deep into the after taste. I think if the malt was a bit more noticeable I would have enjoyed the experience more.

Hazy with an amber orange hue. Clinging off-white head. Aromas of ginger and cinnamon. Vanilla and grainy rice. Woody notes. Full bodied and bitter. Wow, a great rolling palate. Tart sour cherries. Mild retaining burn. Fruity notes with a good malty backbone. Tasty!

This was an incredibly woody, cedary, cinnamony, nutmeggy beer - incredibly flavorful, very dry. Just ZERO residual sugar. Extremely natural tasting. Unusual for any other brewer except for the wacky Kiuchi. Smells incredible; rich and full of cinnamon and a bit of leather.

#1600 – Deep hazed orange, thick off white head. Softly funked fruity vanilla aromas lay on waves of cedar toasted caramel and light swirls of dark fruit. Earthed fig and date flavors balance well on further vanilla and toasted wood-like tones. A touch of dried citrus and yeast rounds this out well. Medium bodied with zesty carbonation. Unique and very well crafted in my book…
