jtw (911), farmington, Michigan, USA Nov 21, 2007 aroma of belgian yeast, coming from a medium-to-hlghtly carbonated amber liquid, beige head atop. tart cherry and apple, perceptible alcohol but not overt. flavor is first tart and woody, but i’m not sure how much sake flavor the beer took on. not loaded with esters like many belgian style beers, nor is it heavily spiced. well-rounded acidity, and the "spice" flavor seems to be from the wood, and this is certainly an intriguing brew - medium body and a surprisingly dry. certainly worth the experience!
swoopjones (1115), Buffalo, New York, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a orangish colorwith big long lasting head. Funky gueuze like aroma. Brett? Taste is oaky, tart some sourness. Some citus aspects here also. Not sure what the sake would have added but this is funky. Opened up even more as it warmed up. Nice beer Suds_McDuff (1013), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston,TX, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2008 enjoyed at the second Stumelagram tasting ... a weird fruity bretty aroma ... quite sour bite, with a strong bitterness ... combined with a strange steel drum sweetness .... good lacing ... crazy stuff ... enjoyable and a bit insane ... a good brew to share with a couple of people, a whole bottle could be to much.. SSSteve (1523), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 22, 2008 a murky caramel colored beer under a fizzy white head. cedar, oak, caramel, tangerine citrus, ginger, nutmeg. flavor is peachy and hoppy with tobacco and hints of wood. a very unique beer with a great aroma. this is awesome stuff. badlizard (1437), San Diego, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle from Hamiltons. Dark garnet red with a slight white head. Red wine and oak aroma. A dark roasty red wine tobacco sake and oak taste. Taverner (440), San Ramon, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Aroma is bretts - farmhouse bretts. Flavor is bitter and sour, with more emphasis on the bitter. Pours brown with brownish head. Not sure if this is a Belgian Ale - more like a Farmhouse Saison. Has a nice, fruity finish - something almost like plums or apricots.
