IrishBoy (2111), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 330ml bottle from Bottleworks; nose of a slight roastiness with a mild diacetyl note; clear brown with a big tan head; flavor is slightly sweet with a very small hop bitterness and a light coffee note. Body very watery. Not much of a stout! gunnfryd (2718), Kristiansand, Norway Jun 12, 2008 Bottle @ Maria tasting. Red brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted, butterscotch, burned sugar. Flavour is sweet, burned sugar, butterscotch, rosted. Thin beer and no typical stout. patrick767 (1396), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 9, 2008 bottle - Pours brown. It’s not even very dark brown, just brown. Warning! Warning! Stouts should be darker than this beer. It has a light roast malt aroma. It’s sweet with a mild roast malt flavor and not much else. Light bodied, it’s not a bad flavor, but is well off the mark of a stout. I’m not sure what they were thinking here. yngwie (3394), Kristiansand, Norway May 27, 2008 Bottle, thx to Maria. It pours a dark ruby to brown body with a beige head. Grainy, roasted, coffeeish aroma with toffee and butterscotch. Butterscotch in the flavor too, but here it dominates, with some fruityness and coffee added. Medium body. Sweet, roasted, butterscotch finish. Drinkable, but far from being a good stout. (080412) kramer (1864), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 22, 2008 12 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a clear mahogany brown body with a small very fizzy off-white head that faded very quickly. Looks more like a Dunkel than a Stout. No one would ever guess by looking at it that it was a Stout. The nose is just slightly roasty with more of a toasted cereal graininess than anything. Light notes of coffee, nuts, and cocoa nibs. The flavor is very thin with a light coffee and husky graininess throughout. No roast at all really. Late on in the finish a little rotting vegetable taste lingers around. Mouthfeel is very thin with too much fizzy foamy carbonation that just frothed when it hit the tongue. What a weird beer, maybe Stout has a whole other meaning over in South Korea?
