Brown bodied glowing body and fizzy bubbly tan head. Aroma is very interesting, much more refined than expected. A delicious light creamy chocolate cake, raisin sweetness, juniper berry and some herbal hops but all in a smooth cocktail, layered by a candy sugar sweetness that’s well within limits and reminds me of a long aged beer (which this certainly isn’t). Moderate bitterness, never as sweet in the taste as expected, except perhaps for the spiced cookie like ending. Foamy carbonation, Belgian yeast appeal but clean enough. Very smooth approach, never extreme or sharp, to a Christmas ale. Reminds me of a British barley wine yet more moderate. Nicely made recipe. I really like it even though I expect moderate scores only. (33cl bottle from Chop’in)

bottle, courtesy of jaghana! Hazy deep brown, beige head. Malty with caramel, chocolate, raisins and dates, nice yeasty flavours in the background.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with medium head. Nose is on chocolate and brown malt. Aroma is on creamy caramel and chocolate, toffee and vanilla, lightly spicy, blackcurrant and light prunes, yeast touch. Beer is like a strong brown ale with belgian yeast touch.
