Well presented beer with decent foam, dark and black with a nice malty nose, was expecting a little more body this version seems a little thin, flavour is quite nice, dark bread with some spicyness, molasses etc..

30cl draft at the brewpub in HCMC. Dark brown with a nice, but disappearing beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt with hints of dark chocolate.Sweet and malty with a fairly dry and bitter finish. Lightly hopped. Very well balanced. Very nice! Tasty and refreshing! (2012-05-12)

On tap at the Saigon brewpub. Nice beige head on top of the dark brown beer. Caramel aroma, slightly burnt caramel in the mouth. Sweetish and watery, but drinkable.

on tap at the brewery in ho chi minh. actually looked like a czech dark - rich brown with a medium head; aroma of stale cola and cleaning products; some light nutty malts and thin tinny bitterness; not awful but a good reminder of how spoilt i am at home

@ HCMC This is a great option for a tasty beer in Vietnam, since they are hard to come by. Taste was of roasted malts with strong coffee and chocolate notes. Nice head and somewhat creamy on the palate.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2009 @ Hanoi location. Dark brown. Light head. Butterscotch and toffee aroma. Some butter, quite nutty. Soft and smooth. Tastes pretty Czech, actually. A sample at the Mui Ne location was less impressive, with way too much butter.

Draft @ brewpub. Dark brown/near-black with lasting tan head. Big worty aroma screams beer. Pure bready doughy goodness with sweet molasses notes. my soft palate. Flavors are great bread crust, dark malt, husk, absolutely delicious and quaffable.

Draught at Hoa Vien Brauhaus, Saigon. Very dark brown with a creamy off white head. Light roasted malts, caramel and some chocolate. Smooth finish. A tasty dunkel.

Almost opaque black, creamy thick beige head. Served ice gold. Caramel, toasted malts and wort in the aroma. Creamy, soft palate. Chocolaty and caramelly flavor. Clean. Good imitation of Czech dunkel.
