A smooth dark mild. Chocolate malt gives plenty of flavour and aroma which belies its strength.

Cask@Proeflokaal. Nice to finally see a cask mild somewhere in the Netherlands. And a nice one as well. Malty aroma with toffee and hints of dirt. Dark brown color, greyish beige head, very nice lace. Sweet, light bitter, malts, toffee. Quite full for the ABV. Highly drinkable session beer.

Cask. Dark cola colour. Breadiness like in a kwass for aroma. Very bready, some bur***uness (can’t read my tasting notes). Taste like it smells, bread. Weak finish.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Swan & Rushes, Leicester. A dark, dark brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is biscuity, wheaty, toasty and bready. The taste is also toasty with some crunchy malt flavours. Beautifully balanced, very tasty and so full flavoured. You can see why, on song, this beer is an award winner.

Sampled at the Medway Beer Festival 2007 - Not bad. Nice creamy, sweet, biscuity drop with plenty of malt.

Comments: This won champion mild of Britain and #2 overall at the 2007 GBBF. It’s a rather dry, toasty example. Very well assembled without reinventing the wheel.

Gravity, Oxford CAMRA beer festival. Chesnut brown, rough tan head. Lovely toasted aroma, nutty coffee and caramel. Soft toasted sugar roast, lovely deep caramel flavor. Soft, and impressively mouthfilling for 3.2%. Lingering husk note and a touch of raw earth. My first beer of the festival, and a fine start.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Reddish brown with a cream head; sweet and malty aroma, but dry licorice and coffee flavours; then a full(ish) bodied and fruity finish. An excellent light mild.

A Mes rate: Cask at some random Sporks in Hammersmith. Clear darkish brown with no head. Very much on the lighter side of mild. Aroma of malt and sweaty feet. Flavour is a little better with floral hops, sweet malt and a slight hint of sourness. Light apple note too. Thin and pretty poor.

Cask (The York, Islington) Light coffee aroma. Creamy mouthfeel and full malty body - richly roasted and malty. Classic mild, brilliant for 3.2%, not watery at all.
