An elegant, straw coloured bitter. The hint of sweetness is complemented by subtle hop flavours, leading to a dry finish. Brewed using Maris Otter pale Ale malt, Hobson's yeast and finished with Worcestershire Goldings and Herefordshire Progress hops.

from le Mondial de la Bière 2011, Strasbourg - quite clear golden-blond beer under a little long lasting foam; some dusty notes and a fair flowery hoppy aroma; medium-bodied, crisp and tasty; subtle carbonation; quite dry and bitter; long flowery and gently fruity hoppy finish - very drinkable

Bottle at home with Drew. Pours a golden hue with a big, white head. Some mild, earth and straw hops. Lightly sweet with some faint bread and mild bitters. Light bodied with average carbonation. Faintly sweet finish. Nothing special, but OK.

Bottle@Home. Malty and citrus aroma. Hazy, yellow, off-white head, good lace. Light malty, nice bitterness, hint of citrus, light fruity, hint of soap. Dryish mouth feel.

Golden body, white head. Aroma has lenty of grassy hops. Quite pissy smells. Crisp and crunchy malty flavour, slight roastiness, fruitiness and sweetness. Long aftertaste, if it only would be little better.

Cask at the Roebuck, Richmond Hill. Mid gold with fine white head and aromas of floral hops and hints of pineapple and citrus. Nice balance with malt and drying hops, then an astringent yet smooth finish. Tasty.

[500ml bottle, Oddbins, Edinburgh] A slight haziness hangs in the glass on the pour, but it doesn’t spoil the light straw colour of the beer. The smell is fantastic, crisp fruit – almost a hint of apple in there. Pretty refreshing, and I found it slightly sweet for a Golden Ale, leaning away from the dry end of the spectrum – I imagine it would be tremendous on cask. I’m not sure about the black label for a golden ale however, particularly when their porter has a pinky brown label?? [29052010]

500ml bottle. Poured a hazy golden with a mostly lasting, loose white head. Crisp, zesty lemon hop aromas. A bit one dimensional in that respect. Light & lemony, a bit of lime sharpness and a grassy finish. A noticeable English earthy hoppiness in general. Light body, light to medium carbonation and short to medium length finish.

Bottle from Strange Refuse Receptacles (Oddbins). Gold pour with a white head. Well carbonated brew. Quite a fruity nose with some light hops. Fruit filled flavours with a hint of malt. Quite bitter. Hoppy finish.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2012 Bottled. A bright golden beer with a white head. Orangey hops in the nose with some sweet sticky malt. It’s the same in the mouth. NIce citricity and a bit of hop sting. A good mouthfeel. Nice beer. Score 3.3
