Canned. Smooth, kinda watery pour of very dark, grizzly-bear brown with a tiny toffee head. Clean, understated roasty and chocolate aroma. Flavour-wise, lots of burnt sugar. A bit of smoke and a hint of sourness, like in an unsweetened cafe latte. Sweet, very clean and very quaffable. Nothing stands out, but it also lacks any notable flaws. I would gladly drink this again.

Thanks to Jerc for the can. Pours a very dark brown with a nice brown head. Not a lot of aroma. Very solid dry stout with a little bit of coffee in there. Has some very good smoke flavor...I am starting to become a big fan of smoked beer.

Thanks to Jerc for sending this sessionable stout with good all-around flavor. Can pours very, very dark but not quite black, a very thin tan head. Nose is like smelling a freshly opened can of French roast. Flavor is roasty but quaffable, with tinges of smoke and espresso. Moderately bitter. Long, smoky and dry finish. Fairly carbonated. Neither thin nor thick.

Pours a dark brown with a loose-bubbled head that looks just like cola. Aroma is lovely - nice and sweet, hints of dark malt and root-beer. Tastes quite watery, very much like root beer but with a bit of lactic sugar and a light almost imperceptible hop presence. Body is lightly creamy but undercarbonated. Very drinkable, but lacks character and depth. Thanks to Robinvboyer for the trade!

473ml can. Clear but very dark cola like poor with a thin frothy light brown head. Aromas of baking chocolate, hints of roasted malts but realy nothing wow... Thin yet velvetty, smooth mouthfeel with a nice dry bitter finish. Flavors are of chocolate malts, hints of mocha coffee... preaty much the same as the aromas... the looks and feel of a Guiness but slightly better.

Thanks to robinvboyer for this one. Can. Pours a dark black body with a great light-brown head. The aroma is sweet chocolate and some roasted malts. The flavor is really quite nice; a smooth lightly roasted malt with light coffee and chocolates. There is a dry nutty flavor with a really nice dry finish. Another good dry stout. This would be a great local beer to have.

Poured a dark cola-brown. No light penetrates it at all. There wasn’t much of a head, but the 10 mm or so that was there briefly was a dark tan. The aroma was bready, with brown sugar and red licorice notes. The mouthfeel is somewhat thick, without much carbonation. The taste was very smoky and malty, with some honeysuckle sweetness. The taste came across a bit watered-down. The aftertaste was lightly bitter. All in all, a decent offering, but it won’t replace the Hockley Dark for me when I visit Ontario.

Courtesy of Degarth. The 1 liter bottle pours deep dark amber with one inch semi frothy head with spotty lacing. The aroma is fairly mild with roasty malts, burnt malts, licorice and faint chocolate malts. The taste is more assertive than the nose with roasty malts that seem to linger before a combination of burnt malts, malt balls, chocolate malts, licorice and charred malts surface and carry into the finish. Tasty.
