Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Degarth. Cool looking bottle. Very limited, we got bottle number 121,007. Wait Dave is an idiot and that’s the date it was brewed. Black pour, light tan head that’s at least 3 fingers thick and stubborn as hell. Creamy looking and very dense, leaves impressive lacing as well. Great looking Dry Stout. Cocoa powder, coffee grounds, molasses and smoky malts on the nose. Flavor profile is very similar, get a lot of smoky/woody notes in this one, along with a ton of coffee and some chocolate. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Finish is roasted malts, chocolate covered cherries and coffee. Not bad for a Canadia brew, eh. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Feb 14, 2008 473 ml can, 4.2% a/v
Pours an oily, near opaque black with a medium tan head. The beer smells of caramel, red wine, and burnt malt. The taste itself consists of fruity floral notes, lots of caramel and a smooth milky taste which blends into the mouthfeel and finish.
One of the lightest and sweetest stouts ive tried. Overall very impressive. Cartoonkhaki (1149), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jan 27, 2008 Dark dark brown amber with tan head that doesn’t last too long. Leaves a cola bubble lacing around the glass. Aroma is roasted and burnt but subtle. Flavour is complimenting with the aroma but I find the acidic nature of this brew to be killing the flavour a bit. Some what watery palate as well. JesseM (660), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2008 Updated: Mar 18, 2009473ml can (new format) from the LCBO (very nice looking can by the way, and I love the tag line, "pours like liquid midnight"). Pours very dark, almost black actually, with a large, light brown, non-nitro head. Aroma: Faint, but nice. Toasty roasted malts, some mocha, and a touch of something sweet, like corn, but not in an unpleasant way (almost like, vanilla?) . Taste: More or less the same, with some metallic flavour in the finish, but followed by a solid chocolate like roasted malt after taste. Nuttiness is there too, which I really didn’t see coming. Some bitterness is evident from the roastiness, and a hint of smoke, as well as a touch of dryness (that becomes more prominent the more I drink). Over-all a nice enjoyable brew, and my sample is only 2 weeks old, so it’s decently fresh. The sweet mocha flavour becomes more evident as it warms, and is pretty tasty and pleasant. This one definitely gets better as it warms, which I find odd for some reason. But it gets noticeably more smooth, mellow and sweet. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jan 18, 2008 473 ml can. pours very dark brown with red edges and a small tan head that nicely laces the glass. aromas are at first nothing but after substantial warming you get roasted malts with some coffee. flavours are tiny and watery and the same as the aroma. ok for a novice but not my kind of stout. Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jan 14, 2008 This stout poured the usual dark black with a lacking tan head. To the nose there was scents of chocolate, coffee, nuts and burnt malt. First taste was smooth but lightly watery tasting. Flavours of molassass and smoke with a little bitterness at the finish. Overall not bad but a little light on the flavour. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 29, 2007 1Litre-LCBO- Large head, Smokey/Coffee aroma with a tiny dash of spice. Nice enough malty-chocolate flavour but nothing to rave abour either, I think the bottle gives it too much kudos, however I would drink it again for sure markas101 (541), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Dec 19, 2007 Litre bottle, Shelburne, ON. Dark brown colour, slightly darker tan head. More burnt malt taste than guiness but that’s about it, pretty average.
