shintriad (641), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 21, 2008 Canned. Smooth, kinda watery pour of very dark, grizzly-bear brown with a tiny toffee head. Clean, understated roasty and chocolate aroma. Flavour-wise, lots of burnt sugar. A bit of smoke and a hint of sourness, like in an unsweetened cafe latte. Sweet, very clean and very quaffable. Nothing stands out, but it also lacks any notable flaws. I would gladly drink this again.
Lubiere (3130), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 A deep dark stout with mahoganey hues and a thick moka head. Caramel and chocolate aroma, with light diacetyl notes. In mouth, a good chocolate malt with light peaty notes. Light yet refreshing. Can from LCBO, tasted May 2007. dkachur (582), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2008 473 mL can from matt7215. Thanks! Nearly black pour with a medium fizzy head. Roasted malt aroma with coffee and chocolate notes. Taste is nearly identical. Thin body. Raphael__N (154), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2008 500ml can from LCBO. I was impressed from the beginning. While the Valley Dark was a well-made brew, it never quite tickled my fancy. This one had a more full-rounded body to it. Roasted malt on the nose with hints of coffee. Taste presented hits of coffee, chocolate and roast. This was a fairly enjoyable beer out on the patio. cyrenaica (252), Milton, Ontario, Canada May 28, 2008 473ml can

I tried this beer on May 28, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a molasses black colour with a light brown head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was rather weak with some roasted malt hints, and some sour smells. The mouthfeel was thin to medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt with coffee and chocolate tones. dchmela (602), Orlando, Florida, USA May 21, 2008 Thanks to MrManning for the 16oz can! Pours out black (like the can says) with a thick tan fluffy head. Light roasted grains and a hint of metal shavings. Taste is nice, chocolate malt, coffee, roasted grains, very drinkable. A little roastiness on the palate after. A solid Irish stout that I could see being a great session beer.
