Pale amber pour with a thick white head. The aroma is quite malty and sweet. A touch of soft caramel along with a little bit of toasted grain. Some moderately spicy hop aroma is apparent as well, but they’re quite muted. Medium-bodied with a bit of sweetness but it’s pretty well-balanced. I wouldn’t call it my favourite beer but it’s a pretty decent lawnmower brew.

473ml can from the LCBO. Clear copper with an average diminishing tan fizzy head. Pretty solid aroma - cereal grain and a fair bit of floral bitterness - not all that sweet either (7-). Taste follows, but less fresh grain, a little papery, and the sweetness creeps in ... light, chewy mouthfeel, sharply carbonated, finishes quick and slightly earthy - not bad!

Can [500ml]. Pours a clear, deep orange-amber with an average size semi-lasting fizzy off-white head. Aroma of sweet bready malt, caramel, some light toastiness and nuts. After a minutes some light hops appear in the aroma and it’s more pleasant, bumping up the score a bit. Mild flavour’s also bready malt first, lightly sweet, followed by caramel, some nuts and just a hint of hops in the finish. Average to medium bodied. Nothing special and nothing bad, just a decent Amber Ale.

Can, LCBO 3 pack. Light amber pour, small white head. Aroma is sweet and a little fruity. Taste - sweet malt with a bit of a metallic hint to it. Body is quite watery. Some light hops in there as well. Really tastes like a watered down Hockley Dark. Did not care for this one.

Canette 473ml.

473 ml can from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass. 12JL12

App.: Clear copper with a fair off-white foam. Aroma: Roasted nuts, slightly earthy caramel/toffee, very slightly fruity, a little sweet-smelling, not bad. Palate: Medium body, moderate-full effervescence. Flav.: Roasted nuts, roasted malts, slightly fruity, a bit of caramel/toffee, more roasted notes; dry with limited bitterness and a reasonably full roasted finish.

Not bad. Certainly roasted malt-forward.
