COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In keeping with the traditions of days gone by, Hockley Black & Tan is a dark mahogany blend of Hockley Stout and our light ale. Hints of smoke, coffee, and chocolate, go along with the grainy sweetness of a light ale. A very refreshing dry finish. Available in individual 473ml cans.

Uninspired, watery, with hints of coffee and nuts. Pours black with a decent head. Glad I tried it, but it was not special enough to make me buy it again.

Rating #918 - January 16, 2014 - 473mL Can from Coop. Not sure if I can seriously review a beer mix, but then again, Ive rated all the lime and chelada garbage, so I guess this is legit. Stout meets blonde ale. Poured some out to reveal a muddy coloured pour with a creamy tan foam that bubbles on ad nauseum. Aroma is roast malts, mild coffee/cocoa sweetness. Taste is more of the same, a dominant roast malt character that eschews into a lightly hoppy bitterness. Overall a good brew and a nice sip, but has nothing on a true Black and Tan.

Pretty much delivers exactly on the marketing write-up, for once: Smoke, coffee, chocolate, grainy sweetness of a light ale atop the heavy joy of the Stout. Good price and pleasant. Good value choice for a decent stout-blend.

This Beer tasted like the potatoes with onion salt I was eating at the time. The aroma is the only thing going for this beer, which can be very misleading. Itís just horrible stuff.

Very dark pour with nice tan head that goes away quickly. Malty galore. Roasty finish. Pretty enjoyable beer.

Dark, almost black pour with a nice tan head of foam. Little retention or lacing left behind. Nose of biscuity malts, some coffee and caramel. Taste of deeply roasted malts up front with hints of roasted coffee, cocao and some dried fruits ending with a balanced bitter finish. Thick mouthfeel. A nice beer overall.

Really excellent Black and Tan. Lots of chocolate. Nice long lasting head. Long smooth dry finish. Recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an opaque black with big tan colored head that quickly turns into a small ring. Aromas of roasted malt, bit of chocolate but not a huge aroma all together. Flavours consists of sweet caramel malt, light roasted malt, finishing with a bit of sourness and bitterness. Mediocre beer.

Smells a little like coffee, roast malts. Pors brown with coke-coloured head. Hpretty boring overall, a little sour at end. A little bitter.

Gotta love Beer Week at the LCBO. Very very dark pour, so dark I canít tell if itís hazy or clear in my pint glass. Respectable tan head that faded quick. If the head had been foamier and there was more of it I could mistake this for a guiness. Malty, earthy nose. Thick. Bitter. Lots of malt. Toasted, roasty finish. Slight raisin notes. A bit of sweetness in the finish, caramel like. Not bad at all, not really a style Iíve been drinking lately. Seems very heavy after all of the IPAs and Wits Iíve been drinking this summer.
